Matthew 6:25-34

25 “This is why I tell you: Don’t worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food and the body more than clothing?

      Wonderful post James. This took time for me due to so much info on prepping. I felt pulled between the two opinions for a period of time. He knows our needs. His Peace just swept over when I gave it all to Him and let it all go!

    SATAN’S TACTIC OF PRIDE
    God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. 1 Peter 5:5

    We each have to come to terms with Satan’s deadliest tactic, which the Bible calls pride. Ever since the Garden of Eden, Satan has promulgated The Great Lie: “You will be like God” (Genesis 3:5b). We all must learn to overcome pride, which was Satan’s own initial sin and which is his pervasive and repetitive tactic against us.

    In Proverbs 6:17, “haughty eyes” are first on the list of the seven things that are an “abomination” to God. Proverbs 27:2 adds, “Let another praise you, and not your own mouth.” Christ spoke of pride in Luke 18:14 when He instructs, “Everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.” Over and over again, we are reminded in the Bible of God’s utter disdain for a prideful spirit.

    Why does God have so much to say about this issue? Because, ultimately, a prideful person is saying, “I don’t need God. I can do it on my own.” As our Creator and Sustainer, God has the perfect plan laid out before us. Attempting to “go it alone” will only lead us down a path of self-destruction. No one knows that better than God—He has seen pride destroy the lives of His creations throughout time.

    In the Old Testament we see an example of this in the life of King Nebuchadnezzar (Daniel 4:28-37) until he acknowledged the Most High God. We also see it in the life of King Belshazzar, who saw the handwriting on the wall and received judgment because of his pride (Daniel 5: 22-31).

    In the New Testament, the Pharisees, filled with self-righteousness, denied the work of Christ, even as He stood before them. The Apostle Paul warned the Corinthians to “not take pride in one man over against another” (1 Corinthians 4:6). Peter repeats the warning about pride from Proverbs 3:34.

    Pride is so devastating because of its deceptiveness. C. S. Lewis said, “A proud man is always looking down on things and people; and, of course, as long as you’re looking down, you can’t see something that’s above you.” We may easily point out pride in the life of someone else, completely oblivious to the stranglehold that pride may have in our own lives. Pride causes us to focus solely on being “better” than someone else. Don’t compare yourself to others; compare yourself to Christ. Remember where you came from, and recall what God has saved you from.

    When all else fails, God may allow adversity into our lives. Nothing gets our attention better than going through a difficult time. He allows these experiences in order to filter out pride, causing us to return our focus on Him. As much as our prideful spirit may disagree, we cannot live a fulfilling life without God. Simply put, when God is out, pride is in!

    RESPONSE: Today I will keep my eyes fixed on Jesus and steer clear of pride’s deceptiveness.

    PRAYER: Lord, I need Your help to keep focused on You and avoid pride’s stranglehold.

  5. My friend/pastor in TX (still here near panhandle and waiting on vehicle parts to take over to her west tx) lost her little dog yesterday. It was sudden, thankfully. Personally I wish they would all go that way, but regardless could we all hold her in prayer? These critters become part of the family and I’m sure she’s just devastated. She believes she had a heart attack.

    Back years ago when she was my pastor, she drove all the way out to my house when my dog was dying. I was a mess of tears.

    She’s had this little dog through many trials. There were originally two dogs, sisters, same litter. When her mother was alive and living with her as she took care of her in her old age. The sister to the little dog that died yesterday, died soon after her mother did, several years ago. These pets of ours are sure sensitive to what is going on with us, just as we are with them…………actually, I think they are more aware at times than we are……..

        I feel like the tortoise if I compare myself to others. If y’all could have seen the look of no peace and frankly sow in the headlights when all this back to jade helm started unfolding ….

        I would love to have the gift of putting together a comic strip of it all, right up to getting tangled in my boot laces last week rofl. It wasn’t the fall itself that was so comical. It was the trying to/keep balance with a hook from one boot caught on the laces on the opposite foot! Good Lord, I have to laugh at myself!
        Look what the Lord can do with broken vessels when we put it in His hands, and yes it’s quite a process at times! Went thru years of power and utilities being turned off via a spouses compulsive gambling. Was homeschooling one child and the other wanted to go back to public school for a time. Absolutely running on fumes with about 20.00 in hand, and Holy Spirit led to garage sales that had the perfect sizes and even new shoes for that child!

        God is so good!!! He was always there even when I wasn’t…..

    2. Lifting up prayers for these situations Sonshine. Our pets can often be part of our extended family. Many have unconditional love and it’s hard to see them go. Wouldn’t it be awesome if more people had unconditional love like many of the pets we have been blessed with?

      1. I wish I could find the article I wrote and posted on FB a few years ago. It was an analogy of my pet dog Roxi and how she is so full of love, runs to me etc. We should be that way with Jesus too. 🙂

  6. I do not have YET, the gift of interpreting dreams. Many times the Lord shows me years later. This dream from last night disturbs my spirit:
    A trucker was straddling the line in a double lane to make a left turn. In other words blocking traffic in both south bound lanes inside town limits. I was watching as a large 4 wheeler (literally an ATV or RTV) races around him on the left. I did not know the truck was going to make a turn at this point. There is a middle lane for turns only so it didn’t make sense that he would turn into the truck stop from straddling the lines. As the ATV races around him on the left side, the truck makes a sudden, fast, hard left turn barely missing the ATV. It was so sudden, fast and sharp it shocked me. It also left me amazed that it missed the ATV, the people on the ATV never knew they had almost been hit…..end of dream.

      The first thing I felt comes from within your last sentence. “the people on the ATV never knew they had almost been hit…end of dream”. Also, before the last sentence…”It was so sudden, fast and sharp it shocked me”.

      The message could be many aren’t paying attention! So many are not paying attention…even me sometimes!

      Matthew 24:42 -Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day on which your Lord will come.

      The day one dies is the day the Lord returned…for the one who died.

      We must always be ready!

      A friend of mine has a summer cabin in the area of McCall and Donnelly, Idaho. He said there was historically a Finnish community that settled the area and some of their saunas still stand today!

    SATAN’S TACTIC OF GUILT
    If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9

    Satan’s internal tactics against us fall into two broad categories: deceit and intimidation. He continually accuses us in our own hearts to bring feelings of guilt and failure into our lives. True guilt is that which comes from disobeying God. One reason that this approach is so effective in crushing the witness of a saint is because it is partially true. We all have failed the Lord. None of us has triumphed in power over every circumstance as we could and should have done. So when Satan accuses us, we know in our hearts that there is much truth in his accusations.

    But God has provided us with a way to cleanse ourselves of this sin and the guilt that accompanies it. When we realize we have failed the Lord, we confess it and He forgives and cleanses us. Once we have confessed it, the sin is gone, and our feelings of guilt are relieved.

    David’s experience shows us God’s method of dealing with sin: conviction, acknowledgment, confession, seeking forgiveness, receiving forgiveness, praise and joyful service (Psalm 51; Psalm 32:3, 4; II Samuel 12:1-13). Once sin is dealt with in this manner, true guilt will disappear.

    The revolutionary army told a young Christian in Chad, Africa that he must submit to old animistic tribal rituals. They wanted to destroy Christianity and stimulate patriotism and loyalty by reviving the ancient pagan customs. The leaders of the churches of the area agreed together that Christians must refuse to participate in the animistic rituals.

    When the young man refused and was beaten, he stood firm in his faith. But when the authorities stripped him naked and beat him in front of his mother, sisters and other young ladies, his courage failed and he permitted them to perform the pagan rituals.

    Then he felt terrible. He had failed the Lord. His guilt was heavy. Satan tried to convince him that the Lord could never again accept him. But he knew the scriptural promises of God, and he confessed his sin. The Lord forgave him and restored his joy.

    He began to publicly witness to his neighbors and he was arrested. The authorities demanded that he denounce Christ or be buried alive. This time, his faith was strong and he refused to deny Christ. He was beaten and thrown into prison to await execution, but his faith grew stronger and the Lord delivered him. The oppressive government was overthrown and he was released.

    RESPONSE: Today I will confess my sin and receive God’s forgiveness from the guilt so that Satan cannot use this tactic against me.

    PRAYER: Pray that this simple and straight-forward process of relieving guilt through confession of sin will be the experience of every believer so Satan loses one more tactic today.

      1. And remember president Trump is an ethnic german from his parents born in New York. And read Bannons Wikipedia profile where he is defined as Irish catholic, economic nationalist, anti semitic, idolizing Satan, darth vader and more. We have seen a darkness Rise that has its roots in post ww2 insemination of nazi personnel and ideology into us intelligence and science&politics.

        There are so many historic roots to go from now where you can see that all is not well in Lala Land.

    3. I agree, accusations and guilt are a favorite tactic of the enemy. As James (Book of) says: “For we all stumble in many ways.” – James 3:2

      My favorite verse for digging out under it is Hebrews 10:10,12:

      “By this will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all… having offered one sacrifice for sins FOR ALL TIME.”

      “For all time” is past, present and future.

      1. There is much truth to what your pastor stated. In dealing with patience, I ask the Lord to guide my tongue and give me the correct words in his perfect timing. It’s not an easy learning process, but most often it’s best to be quiet and wait on the Lord.

        The Lord opened up an “opportunity” today which helped me deal with a situation here head on. Timing was perfect and the words that came out, seemed to flow smoothly and did not involve anger or judgment.

        The Lord can show us how to set boundaries with others, while still allowing the Lord to work with them individually — all of this while showing the Characteristics of Christ.

  13. Can I just say how appreciative I am of this little online community that is faithfully persevering in the Lord?

    When I “woke up” a little more than three years ago, I was so excited to tell people about the coming tribulations and that Jesus is coming back soon. My wife received it and went all in. I thought other people would get it too and join our community, but we encountered mostly rejection. It was very disappointing. The remnant is small! We found a handful of people locally that were at least somewhat awake, so it was something. But lately every single one except my wife and I seems to have fallen for the Trump deception.

    To anyone who will listen: Please, please, please don’t fall for the Trump deception. This is a big one, a doozy. It’s part of the end times “deluding influence” that God is sending to determine who will be judged:

    “Because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved. For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false, in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness.” – 2 Thessalonians 2:10-12

    Why? Because the promise of Trump, and what Trump embodies personally, is a lie from Satan himself: You can have blessing, prosperity and greatness – without repentance and without walking in God’s righteous ways.

      1. I pray the Lord grant each and everyone of us more Clarity, Discernment and Wisdom. We need this now more than ever.

        Each and everyone of us makes mistakes and sometimes we can lead people down the wrong path when we don’t hear from the Lord correctly.

        Pray that those with the gift of prophecy wait on the Lord for correct interpretation, audience, timing and confirmation.

        Everyone needs to show the Characteristics of Christ and that includes public forums. Some are posting hate-filled messages and professing to be Christian — Be Very Careful.

    3. Mike, in agreement with you. This nation can not be blessed without repentance being there. Anyone that tells us they can bring about great changes and not repent themselves — watch out! Some in government claim they have no need to repent, as they feel they have never done anything wrong?

      Many are aware of how well that worked out for Satan and his minion.

      Thanks for sharing the story about your “waking up” — sounds very similar to a lot of things people have shared.

  14. I receive a “Daily Bible Verse” and original prayer by the sender from a woman named Jolie. Here it is:

    ” ‘God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.’ Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time” (1 Peter 5:5-6).

    Lord Jesus, thank You that You reward humility over pride. Pride is when we feel great satisfaction over our own accomplishments (when really, all the ability we have to do anything comes from YOU!). Pride is also when we feel superior to others. It says that You resist the proud, which means that when we are proud, You withstand, oppose, fight against, refuse to accept, object to, defy, and/or set Your face against us. May we never think, speak, or behave in a way that You would do these things to us! As we humble ourselves under Your mighty hand, You exalt us in Your timing, which means that You elevate, promote, raise, advance, upgrade, praise, acclaim, and/or distinguish us. In the ways that we don’t like to be spoken to or treated with pride by someone else – how much more for You. Please root out all pride, and replace it with humility! Amen.

  16. James…in regard to your “opportunity” today. When words flow smoothly and do not involve anger or judgment I can be sure Holy Spirit Is involved. Most times I can’t remember all that I said…surely it’s Holy Spirit led and directed. I could never have made an impact alone. I’m so grateful for those opportunities…Praise the Lord!
