The Old Rugged Cross

The title of this post comes from an old Gospel Song.

The Old Rugged Cross (George Bennard (1873-1958)

On a hill far away, stood an old rugged Cross
The emblem of suff’ring and shame
And I love that old Cross where the dearest and best
For a world of lost sinners was slain

So I’ll cherish the old rugged Cross
Till my trophies at last I lay down
I will cling to the old rugged Cross
And exchange it some day for a crown

Oh, that old rugged Cross so despised by the world
Has a wondrous attraction for me
For the dear Lamb of God, left his Glory above
To bear it to dark Calvary

So I’ll cherish the old rugged Cross
Till my trophies at last I lay down
I will cling to the old rugged Cross
And exchange it some day for a crown

In the old rugged Cross, stain’d with blood so divine
A wondrous beauty I see
For the dear Lamb of God, left his Glory above
To pardon and sanctify me

So I’ll cherish the old rugged Cross
Till my trophies at last I lay down
I will cling to the old rugged Cross
And exchange it some day for a crown

To the old rugged Cross, I will ever be true
Its shame and reproach gladly bear
Then He’ll call me some day to my home far away
Where his glory forever I’ll share

So I’ll cherish the old rugged Cross
Till my trophies at last I lay down
I will cling to the old rugged Cross
And exchange it some day for a crown

Matthew 8:22 But Jesus said unto him, “Follow Me, and let the dead bury their dead.”

Matthew 9:9 And as Jesus passed forth from thence, He saw a man named Matthew, sitting in the customhouse. And He said unto him, “Follow Me.” And he arose and followed Him.

Matthew 10:38 And he that taketh not his cross and followeth after Me, is not worthy of Me.

Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus said unto His disciples, “If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me.

Matthew 19:21 Jesus said unto him, “If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell what thou hast and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in Heaven; and come and follow Me.”

Twelve_Thrones

Matthew 19:28 And Jesus said unto them, “Verily I say unto you, that ye that have followed Me, in the regeneration when the Son of Man shall sit on the throne of His glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

It_Is_Finished

John 19:29-30

29 Now there was set there a vessel full of vinegar; and they filled a sponge with vinegar and put it upon hyssop, and put it to His mouth.
30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, He said, “It is finished.” And He bowed His head and gave up the ghost.

believe

John 3:16-21

16 “For God loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world that He might condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. 18 Anyone who believes in Him is not condemned, but anyone who does not believe is already condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the One and Only Son of God.

19 “This, then, is the judgment: The light has come into the world, and people loved darkness rather than the light because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone who practices wicked things hates the light and avoids it, so that his deeds may not be exposed. 21 But anyone who lives by the truth comes to the light, so that his works may be shown to be accomplished by God.”

  1. To have gotten understanding of what the cross of Christ means to an individual is so much more important than anything the world can offer. The thought is like in Moses day that instead of enjoying the fruits of sin for a season Moses laid down his Life as a sacrifice to the Lord and is to this day remembered as one of the greatest humans ever to live in human history.

We all cant be Moseses in achievement in the world but we can be in out personal lives. If we trust that old rugged cross one day these hard times will be laid behind and an eternity of glory with Christ awaits!

This message JC is more important than any fancy theology or idea ever published, just the basics!

  2. Scripture — 7/3/17 — Seems to go well with the subject of this blog posting:
    **********************************************************************************
    Titus 2:11-14
11 For the grace of God has appeared with salvation for all people,
12 instructing us to deny godlessness and worldly lusts and to live in a sensible, righteous, and godly way in the present age,
13 while we wait for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.
14 He gave Himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to cleanse for Himself a people for His own possession, eager to do good works.

    Titus 3:1-7
Remind them to be submissive to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work,
2 to slander no one, to avoid fighting, and to be kind, always showing gentleness to all people.
3 For we too were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, enslaved by various passions and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, detesting one another.
4 But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love
    for mankind appeared,
    5 He saved us—
not by works of righteousness that we had done,
    but according to His mercy,
    through the washing of regeneration
and renewal by the Holy Spirit.
6 He poured out this Spirit on us abundantly
    through Jesus Christ our Savior,
7 so that having been justified by His grace,
we may become heirs with the hope of eternal life.

  3. Warning! Be very careful when listening to those proclaiming they are receiving prophecy from Catholic Saints, Mary or even a dead pope. Always ask the Lord to reveal to you the truth in anything proclaimed as prophetic.

    Be not deceived!

    1 Timothy 4:1-5

Now the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will depart from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and the teachings of demons, 2 through the hypocrisy of liars whose consciences are seared. 3 They forbid marriage and demand abstinence from foods that God created to be received with gratitude by those who believe and know the truth. 4 For everything created by God is good, and nothing should be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, 5 since it is sanctified by the word of God and by prayer.

  4. Anything that goes as receiving prophecy from dead saints is biblically impossible! Just remember the attempt by Saul and the witch of Endor to rescurrect Samuel the prophet.

Any dead mortal cannot give message from beyond, also the rich man and Abraham from the NT is proof of that. And Third view is from ancient judaism were any Spirit not consigned to God was of the progeny of the Fallen ones or Nephilim which Jesus example of cleansed Bodies of people from possessing spirits gives credence to by saying IF the cleansed does not repent the spirits will return with company.

Summa summarum anything outside of scripture is mm not okay Even IF the pope proclaimed IT standing on his head. And he standing on his head is a warning sign in itself at his age!

  5. All is coming to pass rapidly. I am amazed at the Lords goodness that we “see” what is going on. That in itself is just so awe inspiring.

I guess people love their earthly lives and close themselves off to what is coming. I won’t get into the DNA etc. Just the ones falling for anything is so sad………..And, the level of mocking and seeing us as crazy keeps rising. The anger/hatred is becoming so intense. I praise the Lord for His mercy, goodness and His love. Praying more and more people surrender………surrender to Jesus fully.

All the links above and other sites where those are hearing from the Lord, are of one accord are shouting warnings. I wonder which prophet warned the longest………I think Noah was one of the longest but unsure of the resources. Either way, I cannot imagine the heartbreak they endured watching loved ones and strangers just laugh and keep going away from the Lord. And they had the insanity of the neph, fallen etc to deal with

  6. All of us know that there are many things going on behind the scenes that are set in place by the Global Elite and Luciferian Bunch. We truly don’t know the truth in what we are being told, but we can still keep prepared.

    1. 2 Thessalonians 2

2 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,

2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

      3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.

7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.

16 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,

17 Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.

      Psalms 18: 6
      In my distress I called upon the Lord;
to my God I cried for help.
From his temple he heard my voice,
and my cry to him reached his ears.
      7
      Then the earth reeled and rocked;
the foundations also of the mountains trembled
and quaked, because he was angry.
      8
Smoke went up from his nostrils,[b]
      and devouring fire from his mouth;
glowing coals flamed forth from him.
      9
      He bowed the heavens and came down;
thick darkness was under his feet.
      10
      He rode on a cherub and flew;
he came swiftly on the wings of the wind.
      11
He made darkness his covering, his canopy around him,
      thick clouds dark with water.
      12
Out of the brightness before him
hailstones and coals of fire broke through his clouds.
      13
The Lord also thundered in the heavens,
and the Most High uttered his voice,
      hailstones and coals of fire.
      14
      And he sent out his arrows and scattered them;
he flashed forth lightnings and routed them.
      15
Then the channels of the sea were seen,
and the foundations of the world were laid bare
      at your rebuke, O Lord,
at the blast of the breath of your nostrils.
      16
      He sent from on high, he took me;
he drew me out of many waters.
      17
He rescued me from my strong enemy
and from those who hated me,
for they were too mighty for me.
      18
They confronted me in the day of my calamity,
but the Lord was my support.
      19
      He brought me out into a broad place;
he rescued me, because he delighted in me

However we go home, I love this

  7. Isaiah 12 “A Song of Praise”

On that day you will say:
    “I will praise You, Lord,
although You were angry with me.
    Your anger has turned away,
and You have had compassion on me.
    2 Indeed, God is my salvation;
I will trust Him and not be afraid,
    for Yah, the Lord,
is my strength and my song.
    He has become my salvation.”
3 You will joyfully draw water
    from the springs of salvation,
4 and on that day you will say:
“Give thanks to Yahweh; proclaim His name!
Celebrate His works among the peoples.
Declare that His name is exalted.
5 Sing to Yahweh, for He has done glorious things.
Let this be known throughout the earth.
6 Cry out and sing, citizen of Zion,
for the Holy One of Israel is among you
    in His greatness.”

      1. At a loss here too. Yes, Satan’s the father of lies, but at the name of Jesus he also has to speak truth to the discerning …..

    Death Works in You
“We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about the hardships we suffered in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired even of life. Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead.” 2 Corinthians 1:8-9

Have you ever gone through a very difficult time in your life? These times make us value life. They make us appreciate the simple things that we took for granted before the crisis. When we are restored from such a trial, it is as though we have been given a new beginning. We can place a greater value on what we had before and use it for His purposes. Perhaps for the first time we can identify with others who find themselves in a similar trial.

I recall having an attitude of superiority over those who went through a difficult financial crisis. Because I had never experienced any financial crisis in my life, this pride kept me from identifying with such people. Then the Lord brought such a trial into my life. I learned a great deal during that period. I learned that the world and even Christians often treat such people as lepers. Like me, they didn’t know how to relate. Now, I appreciate the little things that I never would have valued without that trial. The experience taught me greater dependence and faith in the provision area of my relationship with God.

When God brings death to one area of life, he resurrects it in a new way. Death works in us to bring new life and new perspectives. These are designed to press us forward in ways that we never would have moved without the experience. God knows how much this is needed in our life to gain the prize He has reserved for each of us. It is His strategic mercy that motivates Him to bring such events into our life. Press into Him, learn of Him, and rely on Him.

  10. From a point of view where one has studied the traditions of several pagan and occult traditions and the bible verifies it also.

These excorsicms are pagan traditions involving relics and mantras spoken in latin. While a biblically pure banishment of evil spirits involve fasting and commanding in the name of Jesus Christ.

So no wonder these things happen because they rely on traditions and not the word of God.

Remember the sons of Sceva in acts!

  11. At the time after i wrote the above we were talking about catholic traditions with my wife and their unbiblical approach. My wife is a former catholic and in her home coumtry the people are waking up to this.

It is said in the bible that the Lord will destroy the worship of the gods of this world before the end. Whatever name they carry!

    1. Stig, there’s much History in the Bible that states these things will be destroyed. Here’s one example:

      Micah 5:12-15

12 I will remove sorceries from your hands,
and you will not have any more fortune-tellers.
13 I will remove your carved images
      and sacred pillars from you
so that you will not bow down again
to the work of your hands.
14 I will pull up the Asherah poles from among you
      and demolish your cities.
15 I will take vengeance in anger and wrath
against the nations that have not obeyed Me.
