Judgment Decreed In The Days Of Noah

This post is inspired by a broadcast I watched last night.  They were talking about some interesting topics about “The Great Flood”.   One of those was about how prior to the flood, there was no mention of rain.   During the time of Adam, there was vapors from the ground that kept the garden moist.

They also mentioned that Methuselah (grandfather of Noah) died at age 969.

I don’t find reference in scripture to this part about the name of Methuselah, but they said it was in some old manuscripts:    They claim that everyone, was aware that “Methuselah” was named to mean something like “His Death Shall Bring Judgment” or “Man of the dart/spear”.    During this broadcast, they claim that when Methuselah died, the Lord gave Noah and his family exactly 7 days to mourn before closing them up in the Ark and bringing the flood.  I believe 7 days was the custom of mourning back then for Jewish people.  There is reference to much longer mourning periods in scripture.

This study is very relevant to the times we are in.  Many warnings going out and most mock and scoff at those.  People are going about “normal” business and doing their own thing which often never includes the Lord!

Genesis 2:4-6

4 These are the records of the heavens and the earth, concerning their creation at the time that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens. 5 No shrub of the field had yet grown on the land, and no plant of the field had yet sprouted, for the Lord God had not made it rain on the land, and there was no man to work the ground. 6 But water would come out of the ground and water the entire surface of the land.

Genesis 5

The Line of Seth
These are the family records of the descendants of Adam. On the day that God created man, He made him in the likeness of God; 2 He created them male and female. When they were created, He blessed them and called them man.

3 Adam was 130 years old when he fathered a son in his likeness, according to his image, and named him Seth. 4 Adam lived 800 years after the birth of Seth, and he fathered other sons and daughters. 5 So Adam’s life lasted 930 years; then he died.

6 Seth was 105 years old when he fathered Enosh. 7 Seth lived 807 years after the birth of Enosh, and he fathered other sons and daughters. 8 So Seth’s life lasted 912 years; then he died.

9 Enosh was 90 years old when he fathered Kenan. 10 Enosh lived 815 years after the birth of Kenan, and he fathered other sons and daughters. 11 So Enosh’s life lasted 905 years; then he died.

12 Kenan was 70 years old when he fathered Mahalalel. 13 Kenan lived 840 years after the birth of Mahalalel, and he fathered other sons and daughters. 14 So Kenan’s life lasted 910 years; then he died.

15 Mahalalel was 65 years old when he fathered Jared. 16 Mahalalel lived 830 years after the birth of Jared, and he fathered other sons and daughters. 17 So Mahalalel’s life lasted 895 years; then he died.

18 Jared was 162 years old when he fathered Enoch. 19 Jared lived 800 years after the birth of Enoch, and he fathered other sons and daughters. 20 So Jared’s life lasted 962 years; then he died.

21 Enoch was 65 years old when he fathered Methuselah. 22 And after the birth of Methuselah, Enoch walked with God 300 years and fathered other sons and daughters. 23 So Enoch’s life lasted 365 years. 24 Enoch walked with God; then he was not there because God took him.

25 Methuselah was 187 years old when he fathered Lamech. 26 Methuselah lived 782 years after the birth of Lamech, and he fathered other sons and daughters. 27 So Methuselah’s life lasted 969 years; then he died.

28 Lamech was 182 years old when he fathered a son. 29 And he named him Noah, saying, “This one will bring us relief from the agonizing labor of our hands, caused by the ground the Lord has cursed.” 30 Lamech lived 595 years after Noah’s birth, and he fathered other sons and daughters. 31 So Lamech’s life lasted 777 years; then he died.

32 Noah was 500 years old, and he fathered Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

Genesis 6

Sons of God and Daughters of Men
When mankind began to multiply on the earth and daughters were born to them, 2 the sons of God saw that the daughters of mankind were beautiful, and they took any they chose as wives for themselves. 3 And the Lord said, “My Spirit will not remain with mankind forever, because they are corrupt. Their days will be 120 years.” 4 The Nephilim were on the earth both in those days and afterward, when the sons of God came to the daughters of mankind, who bore children to them. They were the powerful men of old, the famous men.

Judgment Decreed
5 When the Lord saw that man’s wickedness was widespread on the earth and that every scheme his mind thought of was nothing but evil all the time, 6 the Lord regretted that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. 7 Then the Lord said, “I will wipe off from the face of the earth mankind, whom I created, together with the animals, creatures that crawl, and birds of the sky—for I regret that I made them.” 8 Noah, however, found favor in the sight of the Lord.

God Warns Noah
9 These are the family records of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among his contemporaries; Noah walked with God. 10 And Noah fathered three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

11 Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight, and the earth was filled with wickedness. 12 God saw how corrupt the earth was, for every creature had corrupted its way on the earth. 13 Then God said to Noah, “I have decided to put an end to every creature, for the earth is filled with wickedness because of them; therefore I am going to destroy them along with the earth.

14 “Make yourself an ark of gopher wood. Make rooms in the ark, and cover it with pitch inside and outside. 15 This is how you are to make it: The ark will be 450 feet long, 75 feet wide, and 45 feet high. 16 You are to make a roof, finishing the sides of the ark to within 18 inches of the roof. You are to put a door in the side of the ark. Make it with lower, middle, and upper decks.

17 “Understand that I am bringing a flood—floodwaters on the earth to destroy every creature under heaven with the breath of life in it. Everything on earth will die. 18 But I will establish My covenant with you, and you will enter the ark with your sons, your wife, and your sons’ wives. 19 You are also to bring into the ark two of all the living creatures, male and female, to keep them alive with you. 20 Two of everything—from the birds according to their kinds, from the livestock according to their kinds, and from the animals that crawl on the ground according to their kinds—will come to you so that you can keep them alive. 21 Take with you every kind of food that is eaten; gather it as food for you and for them.” 22 And Noah did this. He did everything that God had commanded him.

Genesis 7

Entering the Ark
Then the Lord said to Noah, “Enter the ark, you and all your household, for I have seen that you alone are righteous before Me in this generation. 2 You are to take with you seven pairs, a male and its female, of all the clean animals, and two of the animals that are not clean, a male and its female, 3 and seven pairs, male and female, of the birds of the sky—in order to keep offspring alive on the face of the whole earth. 4 Seven days from now I will make it rain on the earth 40 days and 40 nights, and I will wipe off from the face of the earth every living thing I have made.” 5 And Noah did everything that the Lord commanded him.

6 Noah was 600 years old when the flood came and water covered the earth. 7 So Noah, his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives entered the ark because of the waters of the flood. 8 From the clean animals, unclean animals, birds, and every creature that crawls on the ground, 9 two of each, male and female, entered the ark with Noah, just as God had commanded him. 10 Seven days later the waters of the flood came on the earth.

The Flood
11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the sources of the watery depths burst open, the floodgates of the sky were opened, 12 and the rain fell on the earth 40 days and 40 nights. 13 On that same day Noah along with his sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth, Noah’s wife, and his three sons’ wives entered the ark with him. 14 They entered it with all the wildlife according to their kinds, all livestock according to their kinds, the creatures that crawl on the earth according to their kinds, all birds, every fowl, and everything with wings according to their kinds. 15 Two of all flesh that has the breath of life in it entered the ark with Noah. 16 Those that entered, male and female of all flesh, entered just as God had commanded him. Then the Lord shut him in.

17 The flood continued for 40 days on the earth; the waters increased and lifted up the ark so that it rose above the earth. 18 The waters surged and increased greatly on the earth, and the ark floated on the surface of the water. 19 Then the waters surged even higher on the earth, and all the high mountains under the whole sky were covered. 20 The mountains were covered as the waters surged above them more than 20 feet. 21 Every creature perished—those that crawl on the earth, birds, livestock, wildlife, and those that swarm on the earth, as well as all mankind. 22 Everything with the breath of the spirit of life in its nostrils—everything on dry land died. 23 He wiped out every living thing that was on the surface of the ground, from mankind to livestock, to creatures that crawl, to the birds of the sky, and they were wiped off the earth. Only Noah was left, and those that were with him in the ark. 24 And the waters surged on the earth 150 days.

Matthew 24:36-38

No One Knows the Day or Hour
36 “Now concerning that day and hour no one knows—neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son —except the Father only. 37 As the days of Noah were, so the coming of the Son of Man will be. 38 For in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah boarded the ark.

  1. The age of Methuselah is there in your scriptural references! Its in verse 27! These scriptures here are the foundation, if one disbelieve these one disbelieves the foundation of scripture!

  2. Genetically these men mentioned in genesis where closer to the perfect man Adam who was handmade by God himself. So its natural their telomere is longer also. Look it up, thats what makes some people of more longevity than others.

    1. Linda, here’s the scriptural reference to the rain mentioned at top of blog posting. My question wasn’t related to the age of Methuselah. I’ve edited the original post to bring clarity on the questions I had.

Genesis 2:6 is your answer and also the term Canopy found in the Kjv which was destroyed during the flood of Noah. The canopy was a ice layer around the earth that took away ultra violet radiation and gave tropical or subtropical conditions around the earth.

There are still chunks of ice in space around earth to testify of this. Hope the answer satisfies you 😎

  5. We are under a flood watch here where I live now in Arkansas. The Spring River is nearing flood stage and it feeds many of the lakes and streams near me. No risk of flooding at this house and I’ve found and alternative route to take when they close the 2 main roads here. One of the neighbors told me that they often close the 2 main roads when we get a lot of rain. Praise The Lord as his protection is always there for those that believe 🙂

      1. Good catch sonshine, the genius is growing. Soon it will be SONSHINE in capital. 😃🤔 I see a problem immediately…..the human capability to conform and delegate. Even if one is the master and you delegate enough subduties. Those subduties will overwhelm the master program at some point. We see it today already, everybody wants the cool duties until the undone junk buries us.

Ugh i have spoken and haw sonshine the chief will let you smoke the peacepipe first 😆

  7. Josh Peck has done a fabulous job to intertwine and yet separate the similarities and differences between atheistic science and christian belief and faith. I recommend to anyone who wants to discuss science and faith from a logical and spiritual base.

Goes in line with this post because we are talking foundation of this world

  8. I would find it interesting Stig. I love this topic James posted. So much more to all this than what most believe. We did the study with Chuck Missler and while it is good, and eye opening for some who need an “expert” with degrees to teach…..he is pre and I found some things off from what I believe and what is discussed on here.

    1. Chuck Missler touches on this in his series of through the bible in 24 hours. He is a good teacher. I stray when he gets into too much pre. Not the pre trib but the pre everything………we won’t be here for major trouble etc.

    2. That is all very interesting…I must live under a rock. I say that because I never heard of this “gap theory”. One of the problems with “theories” (in my humble opinion) is they tend to become seen as truth. In this case, maybe there are some things we’re not meant to understand OR maybe it just doesn’t matter when we look at the bigger picture.

For myself, When it comes to the word of God…I leave it to the Holy Spirit to lead me to an understanding of the truth as it is written. I don’t spend any time trying to prove this or that, I just believe it as it is stated in the Bible. It’s this simple for me…”in the beginning God created heaven and earth”, period. How He did it, when He did it, and what came next or first or in between I don’t concern myself. I just believe that He did. And then I marvel in His abilities and the beauty of it all.

In the end I only try to take God’s word and apply it to my life to correct myself for the sake of the whole. I believe this to be where the Lord wants me to focus as we are in the end times and this is where He would have us make a difference. Working on ourselves and by example leading other’s to JESUS.
      Blessings, Peace and Love,

      1. In agreement with you Vicki. I let the Holy Spirit lead me in the truth in all things. I apply that to teachings coming from televangelists and authors of books, as they often twist what the word of God is saying. That’s where myself and others can continue asking the Lord for greater amount of Clarity, Discernment and Wisdom.

      2. Oh its old late 1800s but was made famous by George Hawkins in late 1900s. This stuff has been pondered within judaism also so its nothing new. IT is just pondering the meaning of words to their full context within linguistic and cultural barriers.

One should also look for corroborative evidence outside the host culture and see how IT parallels the paternal text or evidence. And in this case we find supportive evidence in a wide range of cultures from Mesopotaman, Egyptian, Aztec, Viking paganism, and variety of other pagan religions. Of course the pagan ones are twisted versions of the original paternal text but gives a baseline nonetheless!

Chinese alphabet is one of the best because its many root letters decipher the original creation from Genesis. Look up Douglas Stauffer one book one authority for details!

But this in a nutshell, its not living under a rock but having the rock live upon you that makes one not see the details 😁

  9. I watched about 1/2 of this movie last night and plan to finish later at some point. It’s an excellent movie and they read the entire book of acts during the scenes. Good way to put pictures to the stories. They are reading from the NIV, which isn’t the one I use but you can still get a better grasp of The Book of Acts from this movie.

    1. Here’s Chapter 1 From The Book Of Acts:

      Acts 1

1 I wrote the first narrative, Theophilus, about all that Jesus began to do and teach 2 until the day He was taken up, after He had given orders through the Holy Spirit to the apostles He had chosen. 3 After He had suffered, He also presented Himself alive to them by many convincing proofs, appearing to them during 40 days and speaking about the kingdom of God.

      The Holy Spirit Promised
4 While He was together with them, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for the Father’s promise. “This,” He said, “is what you heard from Me; 5 for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

6 So when they had come together, they asked Him, “Lord, are You restoring the kingdom to Israel at this time?”

7 He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or periods that the Father has set by His own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

      The Ascension
9 After He had said this, He was taken up as they were watching, and a cloud took Him out of their sight. 10 While He was going, they were gazing into heaven, and suddenly two men in white clothes stood by them. 11 They said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking up into heaven? This Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come in the same way that you have seen Him going into heaven.”

      United in Prayer
12 Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called the Mount of Olives, which is near Jerusalem—a Sabbath day’s journey away. 13 When they arrived, they went to the room upstairs where they were staying:
      Peter, John, James, Andrew,
      Philip, Thomas, Bartholomew, Matthew,
James the son of Alphaeus, Simon the Zealot,
and Judas the son of James.
14 All these were continually united in prayer, along with the women, including Mary the mother of Jesus, and His brothers.

      Matthias Chosen
15 During these days Peter stood up among the brothers[e]—the number of people who were together was about 120—and said: 16 “Brothers, the Scripture had to be fulfilled that the Holy Spirit through the mouth of David spoke in advance about Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus. 17 For he was one of our number and was allotted a share in this ministry.” 18 Now this man acquired a field with his unrighteous wages. He fell headfirst and burst open in the middle, and all his insides spilled out. 19 This became known to all the residents of Jerusalem, so that in their own language that field is called Hakeldama (that is, Field of Blood).

20 “For it is written in the Book of Psalms:
Let his dwelling become desolate; let no one live in it; and
Let someone else take his position.
21 “Therefore, from among the men who have accompanied us during the whole time the Lord Jesus went in and out among us— 22 beginning from the baptism of John until the day He was taken up from us—from among these, it is necessary that one become a witness with us of His resurrection.”

23 So they proposed two: Joseph, called Barsabbas, who was also known as Justus, and Matthias. 24 Then they prayed, “You, Lord, know the hearts of all; show which of these two You have chosen 25 to take the place in this apostolic service that Judas left to go to his own place.” 26 Then they cast lots for them, and the lot fell to Matthias. So he was numbered with the 11 apostles.

    1. I love looking for the esoteric. BUT, it’s 100% up to Holy Spirit to confirm and that He does beautifully. I’ve never looked up anything on Mandella Effect, except on wiki to see what it said. It felt like witchcraft, I don’t know, had a huge check in my spirit about not looking into it and then Bette came out with a warning a couple months later too.

  10. Not saying there is or is not anything to the M Effect, but certainly isn’t something I want to mess with. It was astounding how many believers, new and old freaked out and messaged, texted and called over this mess.

  11. Ooh i would not call this esoteric i would call it open for view in scriptures but IT requires a time to show oneself a workman which i have been blessed with earlier in My life. Less so now, i would say its that lost hebraic touch christianity has somewhat lost. And by that i dont mean being adherent to the law but a spiritual kinship to our hebrew primogenitors who gave us Jesus Christ but did not accept him.

A love and respect for Israel but a knowledge some of them dont look well on christians, well warned of by St Paul.

    Hope im making sense?

  12. Perfect Stig!!! My friend I referred to above, lives under the Rock too. I can’t tell you the times over the years God has used her to put me back under the Rock! People who rest in the Lord so easily while being called to intercede and as watchmen blow my hair back. I suppose it’s from a very long time in Him and His Wisdom. I don’t get into the “resting” in Him area as often as I should.

  13. Ooh i dont think its possible to get a Christian confused. He/she can be bewildered by this and that but as long as one keeps the eyes on the beacon of hope Jesus Christ a Christian is never lost or confused Vicki. Think of IT as an ancient ship at sea. First you navigate by stars which is light(Christ). Secondly under Cloudy weather you keep to the guidelines(Bible). And once closing in on the harbor(heaven) the beacon shines more and more brightly and being confused or lost is an thought of the past!

Easy as pie Vicki 🎨 😇

    1. Perfect post for today James. It’s been a week………and to top matters off, the iodine/iodide suggested for use with thyroid has had me wound up and not in a good place. BUT God is faithful and that has been dropped from my supplements.
I want to ask forgiveness for scattered comments. My heart is in the right place but racing on the other end of the supplement.
It’s taken almost a week to figure where this has come from. If anyone has this in their BOB, or prep items for radiation exposure (also recommended to me in the past for thyroid aid by 3 docs) be very careful! One drop as I took also got my friend here wired too much. Dosage for radiation exposure at 30 drops……………………………..also used in water treatment, purification…………..I would drink the bleach first personally.
My thoughts Mark 16:18 :They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

      1. Each of us needs to do what we are commanded by the Lord. As for me, I am relying on him for protection, provisions and strength to overcome the enemy as the end draws near. There is no way any of us can possibly store up enough food/water for what is needed. We need to do our part in storing up whatever we can, but also have faith that the Lord will provide for all of our needs. We also need to be willing to share with others and not get into a “It’s all mind mode and keep everything to ourselves”. I’ve heard many people proclaim that they will not share anything they have stored up??

As for the protection against radiation — I’m relying on the Lord for that, as a “nuke” will quickly overwhelm our systems no matter what we do. Faith in the Lord is needed in all things. I’ve even asked the Lord for protection against small things like bugs for myself and Cody. I personally don’t want to keep spraying myself with toxins to keep the ticks away.

Trust in the Lord for all things great and small. He is truly amazing 🙂

  14. Agree James. You know, it’s so hard to imagine people that would not share……but not sharing is probably going to be the least of issues in changes to human nature……you have great faith in the natural and man made areas I never think of until of course, I read your posts!! 😀
