Jesus Has Become The Guarantee Of A Better Covenant

The title of this post comes from a partial verse in Hebrews 7:22

Hebrews 7

Hebrews7_Melchizedek

For this Melchizedek—King of Salem, priest of the Most High God,
who met Abraham and blessed him as he returned from defeating the kings,
2 and Abraham gave him a tenth of everything;
first, his name means king of righteousness,
then also, king of Salem, meaning king of peace;
3 without father, mother, or genealogy,
having neither beginning of days nor end of life,
but resembling the Son of God— remains a priest forever.

4 Now consider how great this man was—even Abraham the patriarch gave a tenth of the plunder to him! 5 The sons of Levi who receive the priestly office have a command according to the law to collect a tenth from the people—that is, from their brothers—though they have also descended from Abraham. 6 But one without this lineage collected tenths from Abraham and blessed the one who had the promises. 7 Without a doubt, the inferior is blessed by the superior. 8 In the one case, men who will die receive tenths, but in the other case, Scripture testifies that he lives. 9 And in a sense Levi himself, who receives tenths, has paid tenths through Abraham, 10 for he was still within his ancestor when Melchizedek met him.

11 If then, perfection came through the Levitical priesthood (for under it the people received the law), what further need was there for another priest to appear, said to be in the order of Melchizedek and not in the order of Aaron? 12 For when there is a change of the priesthood, there must be a change of law as well. 13 For the One these things are spoken about belonged to a different tribe. No one from it has served at the altar. 14 Now it is evident that our Lord came from Judah, and Moses said nothing about that tribe concerning priests.

15 And this becomes clearer if another priest like Melchizedek appears, 16 who did not become a priest based on a legal command concerning physical descent but based on the power of an indestructible life. 17 For it has been testified: You are a priest forever
in the order of Melchizedek.
18 So the previous command is annulled because it was weak and unprofitable 19 (for the law perfected nothing), but a better hope is introduced, through which we draw near to God.

20 None of this happened without an oath. For others became priests without an oath, 21 but He became a priest with an oath made by the One who said to Him:  The Lord has sworn, and He will not change His mind, You are a priest forever.

rise_and_meet_the_lord
22 So Jesus has also become the guarantee of a better covenant.

23 Now many have become Levitical priests, since they are prevented by death from remaining in office. 24 But because He remains forever, He holds His priesthood permanently.

Hebrews7_25

25 Therefore, He is always able to save those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to intercede for them.

Hebrews7_Perfect_Priest

26 For this is the kind of high priest we need: holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens. 27 He doesn’t need to offer sacrifices every day, as high priests do—first for their own sins, then for those of the people. He did this once for all when He offered Himself. 28 For the law appoints as high priests men who are weak, but the promise of the oath, which came after the law, appoints a Son, who has been perfected forever.

  1. I never noticed until now that these guidelines laid out in scripture above can be used to torpedoe cult leaders and many false religions out of the water just by describing the priestly office of biblical perspective.

The blind cannot lead the blind, IT requires sight. Biblical sight to be accurate!

GOD USES PROBLEMS AND PERSECUTION TO DIRECT YOU
“Sometimes it takes a painful situation to make us change our ways” Proverbs 20:30 TEV

Here is one of five ways God uses problems and persecution in your life: God uses problems and persecution to DIRECT you.

Idris Nalos was an African animist converted to the Christian faith in southern Sudan. Soon after his conversion he became an evangelist. He went out preaching in the remotest places. Within a few years, he planted three churches. Soon considered as dangerous because of his activities, he was arrested by the Islamic authorities and put in prison. There he suffered torture to make him to deny his Christian faith. Beaten for hours every day, he was also totally deprived of sleep.

About to collapse, Idris prayed, “Lord, prevent me from being like Peter. I am about to give up, help me.” And God answered in giving Idris a vision where he saw all those to whom he had preached the gospel and who, in turn, proclaimed the good news to other people.

“I saw those who were saved,” he said. In this vision, he realized that even if his life was taken, others had already taken up the baton. From this moment, Idris was no longer afraid for his life. After three weeks of ceaseless torment, his torturers released him without explanation.

To avoid another arrest he immigrated to Khartoum in the north, where he founded three new churches in a fundamentalist Muslim territory. He had learned how to trust and wasn’t afraid anymore. God showed him where to go and what to do.

Sometimes God must light a fire under us to get us moving. Problems and pressures often point us in a new direction and motivate us to change. Is God trying to get your attention?

RESPONSE: God is at work in my life—even when I do not recognize it or understand it. It is much easier and more profitable when I cooperate with Him. This is the way to victory!

PRAYER: Lord, point me in the direction of Your will. May I not need problems and persecution for You to get my attention.

  4. The old adage concerning war is that no war has been won from the air. It takes ground troops to secure victory in any conflict. Modern politicians fear public backlash from casualties and hence are never assertive enough when crisis demands it. Unless of course the objectives of the Nwo are met!

Think Iran and now the overdrive media blitz against Syria and N-Korea. If the Us would get a beach head in N-Korea how much easier wouldnt the Penac objectives be reinforced when Russia and China would have a superpower at their border.

Time will tell but remember Russias main oil deposits are in the Russian far east and in Syria is Russias head oil pipeline to the Mediterranean.

This smells Neocon aka Project for a new American century=Penac.

The Bear&Dragon by Tom Clancy focused on a conflict in the Russian far east. This is the modern equivalent of it!

    1. If some conflict flares up overseas, whether Korea or Middle East, I would anticipate something to happen at home in America too. Perhaps simultaneously.

Last night I went to the gym for a late workout and saw about a dozen muscular “jihadis” working out too. I say jihadis because they looked Arab, mostly wore beards and spoke Arabic when I overhead them. A couple of them were dressed in camouflage and reminded me of ISIS militants. Some had aggressive and dead looks in their eyes. Demonic really.

Southern Idaho has been a target area to flood with Muslim refugees, students and immigrants. I have no doubt that when the nationwide jihad attack happens, our area will be hit. I work out with these guys!

I pray they get saved, but I am also prepared for action if you know what I mean.

      1. Areas where the greatest population segment is native strong christians with distrust towards government are the nr1 target. In Finland the greatest concentration of refugees is in cities like Helsinki, Turku. But i guess IT is mainly because of Life standard reasons, most of these refugees would not like the finnish country side. Cold and dark with forest on forest.

But there were reports of large concentration of jihadis in Nevada desert shooting in groups by highway patrol men.

There is a clear pattern though Mike as you observed.

  5. Reading the summary of the plotline in Clancys above mentioned novel this might be a attempt to drive a wedge between Russia and China divida et impera. Divide and conquer, Russia moves troops to Koreas border and China. My gut instinct says we might have something like this as the failed intervention of China in russia in the book caused a fashion word called regime change in China.

A supposedly democratic China would be so so media sweet and a feather in the hat of globalists.

Just my loud speculations nothing more!

  6. Sharing a testimony.
I had left all of my interior lights on in the van for over 24 hours, and didn’t know the battery was drained until I went outside earlier to try and start it. I called my insurance company and they quickly dispatched someone to jump it.

While waiting for the person to arrive, I decided to remove all of the overgrown weeds in one of the flower beds at the front of the house. One of the neighbors approached me, and I had never met him before. We both soon started sharing scripture, conviction, condemnation, the power of the Holy Spirit and so much more … How awesome is that! Something that was an aggravation (dead battery) ended up being a great time of fellowship 🙂

  7. I read on ETH where NK put a new video out showing the WH in flames. Also Russia dropped the US dollar. Things all around gone crazier. When the Lord said “rumors of war” it sure takes on a huge meaning compared to what it did before

  8. Stig, a friend of mine and I have been talking about the deception in the huge “revival.” She’s in SA. I believe there will be some saved and born again yet I also believe it’s heading into the one world religion. Another area of “peace peace.” The theme of “If my people…………God will heal our land……..”:(

We are praying over those who do hear, believe, and for those blinders to come off in this hour.
It all looks and sounds so good, it is scary to see the masses……………I pray most of all to not be deceived! It just seems so surreal at times that there are so many so blinded………2 Cor 4:4

It’s only God’s mercy we are still here.

  9. My carrying motto in life has almost as long as i remember been the farther away you are the more you see. Holiness as a word means separation, put apart for consecrated use.

I did only realise this fully after about 10 years in faith and i have a reputation as aloof and distant but its because my brain is hardwired for this. Why do you kick against the pricks said Jesus to Paul.

We are made for something and our basic behaviour and demeanor shows something what we are made for even before Jesus becomes our saviour.

We either become darkened in mind wandering the world or enlightened in mind and soul and heart wandering with Jesus. But we still are the vessel the Lord made us!

  10. A bit off topic to say the least……we are under a winter storm watch and temps will dive back down into 20s, even an 18 this week, with rain now…….it has been a battle pressing in thru the not just feeling all out dingy, off center etc. Worship is up full blast and yesterday was a good half day of just all out warfare prayer.
Today as I went into town to pick up vet meds, the ladies there were totally off, (the weather) and the young ladies at the feed store said they were just talking about how off they felt etc.
My words were not coming out right and ha, my words on here may not be either. Asking for prayer over this in agreement. I know there’s more to this…..but we walk in His authority and while weapons may be formed against us, none will prosper.

    1. Lifted up prayers Sonshine, so the Lord will give you the exact words to use when dealing with people like the ladies you mentioned. May he also give you strength, greater portions of: discernment, wisdom and clarity — as we all will need this very soon. 🙂

    2. Hi Sonshine, my wife feels “off” lately, as do I. I think we are feeling the spiritual atmosphere, the darkness infusing on our nation in the spirit realm. We are so close to chaos breaking loose. Greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world.

      Liked by 2 people

      1. Thank you all. Yes, there has been a huge increase in the spiritual atmosphere and going into warfare at home has changed thanks to a sister in Christ. The Lords Wisdom and clarity are much needed when a backlash like this comes. Thank you Jesus it didn’t last long! The discernment was a few areas, one Mike mentioned, seeing such an increase in “activity” around here and breaking through (took some time) the effects of the sprays, and I believe also the microwave junk with the towers around. Hearing from the non believers yesterday (one even mentioned she didn’t even drink the night before) was a confirmation too.

I praise the Lord! I don’t believe it would have hit like it did if I was not praying effectively. The Lord has really laid our sheriffs, police and troops on my heart lately. It’s been HEAVY. But an area He placed in my heart to intercede. I “hear” the “grief” of all things in the sheriffs conversations………they are awake in our area.

Greater is He who is in us, than he that is in the world….AMEN!!!!

  13. Verse of the day (from Bible Gateway) — 4/28/17

[ Christ’s Humility and Exaltation ] Make your own attitude that of Christ Jesus, who, existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God as something to be used for His own advantage. Instead He emptied Himself by assuming the form of a slave, taking on the likeness of men. And when He had come as a man in His external form, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death— even to death on a cross.

    Saul
His name means: “The One Asked For, Requested”

His work: As Israel’s first king, his role was to unite the tribes of Israel against their enemies and to begin the process of establishing Israel as a monarchy.
His character: Though his reign began well, Saul failed to live up to his calling, trusting himself more than he trusted God. Mentally unstable, he became so jealous of David that he tried to murder him. His last battle with the Philistines ended in his suicide and in the death of his eldest son, Jonathan.
His sorrow: To become so alienated from God that he could no longer hear the Lord’s voice or receive his help; to have the kingdom torn from him and his heirs because of his unfaithfulness.
His triumph: His impressive military conquests, including victories over the surrounding Moabites, Ammonites, Philistines, and Amalekites.
    Key Scriptures: 1 Samuel 13:5-14; 16:14-23; 18:5-9

    A Look at the Man
A well-known adage indicates how hard it can be to get things right the first time around, reminding us that “the first pickle is always the hardest to get out of the jar.” That bit of folk wisdom could certainly apply to Israel’s first attempt at transforming itself into a monarchy.

A head taller than other men, Saul must have seemed an excellent choice as a ruler. God, after all, had selected him, the prophet had anointed him, and the people had all shouted, “Long live the king!” But even divine affirmation and popular support were not enough to insure Saul’s success. Only Saul could guarantee it by responding faithfully to what God was asking.

But time after time, Saul prevaricated. Told to wait, he took matters into his own hands. Commanded to kill the Amalekites and destroy everything they owned, he spared their king and preserved the best of their livestock. Though fortune-telling was forbidden, he consulted a medium. Whenever he was confronted with his disobedience, he made excuses:

    “You didn’t come.”

“The Philistines were about to destroy us.”

“I felt compelled to offer the sacrifice.”

“We saved the best of the sheep and cattle to sacrifice to the LORD, but we totally destroyed the rest.”

“God won’t talk to me, and I need to know what to do.”

The excuses kept coming, like one bad penny after another. Centuries later they seem so plausible, so familiar, so understandable—at least to us. But not to the God who reads our hearts by how we act or fail to act.

So Saul’s life and his rule as king gradually disintegrated. His mind became poisoned by jealousy and fear. A son and a daughter were estranged from him because of their love for David. Paranoia finally drove him to attempt an impossible task—to kill a man God himself was determined to protect. In the end, he lost more than a kingdom, forfeiting everything that matters in life—his family, his future, his own integrity.

    Reflect On: 1 Samuel 28:5–20
Praise God: For his word in Scripture.
Offer Thanks: For all the ways God has spoken during your lifetime.
Confess: Any tendency to disregard God’s Word and its authority in your life.
Ask God: To increase your desire to read and pray the Scriptures.

Being a Theosophist he means most likely the Kali Yuga from hindu beliefs. But we can see that their guiding spirits(Devils) do tell them what the plan is! So to quote scripture

    2 Cor 2:11 Kjv

The kingdom of darkness has their plans but scripture is being fulfilled by them!

So far 2 today, just like us have fallen into areas of deception. It has me shook! God is faithful but we need to pray. I thought it was one person which was bad enough. There’s a new scam going on from the enemy inside the is-lam agenda……..it’s ramped up and this is not always asian looking men and women.
Stig, when you posted the above verse Holy Spirit told me to look up the rest. This is ESV but it Holy Spirit used it just now to show me why the persons allowed deception in…….how it got in…..trauma, then a need for forgiveness work.
Sorry, just babbling away on this blog. Thank you Jesus!!!
2 Cor. 2:5 Now yif anyone has caused pain, zhe has caused it not to me, but ain some measure—not to put it too severely—to all of you. 6 For such a one, bthis punishment by the majority is enough, 7 so cyou should rather turn to forgive and comfort him, or he may be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. 8 So I beg you to reaffirm your love for him. 9 For this is why I wrote, that I might dtest you and know ewhether you are obedient in everything. 10 Anyone whom you forgive, I also forgive. Indeed, what I have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, has been for your sake in the presence of Christ,

    1. No Sonshine that was not just babbling! You hit the nail on the head with trauma. Trauma fragments the mind and allows for development of characteristics that the mind wont normally develop. One of the purposes with Mk Ultra was along with drugs the development of a perfectly controlled slave by fragmenting the mind through drugs and induced trauma to fragment the mind into smaller subpersonalities.

Only the gospel and highly advanced psychotherapy has hope to Cure a person so treated.

So no babbling there sonshine, there is that intuitive family genius from the scientist ancestor again 🤓
