Be Still & Know That I Am God

The title of this post is a partial verse from  Psalm 46:10.

screaming_man

Do you ever have days where things stress you out and you want to run screaming?  I’ve had a few of those recently.  When this happens, I know it’s time for me to get out of the way and place it all in the Lord’s hands.

i_cant_believe_you_said_that

My former self would have reacted very inappropriately and said a few words that might make some people blush.  I was never known for being tactful or having a lot of patience.  I certainly was not a candidate for getting some kind of “peace award”.  That was then and this is now.

happy_meal

Now some people that knew me before, first start to wonder what happened?  They probably think medication is involved or maybe even a mental breakdown 🙂  Even when you share that you have turned over your life to the Lord in repentance, they look at you like you’re a “few fries short of a happy meal”.

give_thanks

Thank the Lord that he is showing me a different way to view things and know that whatever I turn over to him will give me peace.  I may not get the answer I want or in the timing I want, but it’s always perfect.

Psalm 46

the_lord_is_my_refuge

God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.

2 Therefore we will not fear,
Even though the earth be removed,
And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

3 Though its waters roar and be troubled,
Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah

4 There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God,
The holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High.

5 God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved;
God shall help her, just at the break of dawn.

6 The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved;
He uttered His voice, the earth melted.

7 The Lord of hosts is with us;
The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah

8 Come, behold the works of the Lord,
Who has made desolations in the earth.

9 He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two;
He burns the chariot in the fire.

10 Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!

11 The Lord of hosts is with us;
The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah

  1. I recently used that be still and know in God in a conversation with a fellow christian in our church. He did not appreciate that reference because he is a very social and active man who wants things to be done!

    But if we look at the preceding verse there it says the Lord will make wars cease etc and just says to us be still, be at peace!
    Jesus said he would give us a peace that passeth all understanding and thats why your neighbours think you are a few fries short Jc 🙂

    Because you have inner peace now, next time offer them a few fries when they come talking and say you dont need these fries anymore! Jesus gave you your own grill for fries so you have plenty 🙂

    1. I like the wording also! Timely post!! It’s been an incredible journey the past few weeks, including splattering all over the sidewalk after falling off the porch ROFL! I praise the Lord nothing was broken.
      The post is spot on. Just what I needed. After I catch up on here it’s back to being still and resting in Him. There’s something spiritually not good going on in my home and the gloves are on! French fries going to fly! Ha!

      1. Well IT was good your wrapping held so you did not splatter over the sidewalk. JCs forum would not have been the same without Sonshine.

        Sonshines are not ment to splatter over the sidewalk but pave way for people to heaven with gospel bricks of 24 karat gold and pearls of magnificient gospel grade!

    CONQUERING THE FEAR OF DEATH
    I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20

    Fear of dying is the number one universal fear for human beings. Virtually every fear has a relationship to death and a connection to dying. For example, why are we afraid of flying? The plane may crash and we may die. Here are seven scriptural principles that enable us to conquer our fear of death:

    1. God is in control. Read Psalm 91. (Mark 4:35-41; Phil 4:6-7)

    2. Focus on fearing God and dying to self. (Acts 5:29; Galatians 2:20)

    3. We are strangers and pilgrims on this earth. (Hebrews 10:32+)

    4. God always brings good from evil. (Genesis 50:20)

    5. The enemy can only harm our body, not our soul. (Matthew 10:28)

    6. Absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. (2 Corinthians 5:8; 2 Timothy 2:11-12)

    7. There is a crown of life for the faithful to death. (Revelation 2:10)

    Co-workers had just finished an SSTS seminar on the island of Timor when a young pastor suddenly jumped up and proclaimed before all his colleagues “Now I am ready to die for Jesus!” These were no idle words. Every single pastor attending the seminar was directly or indirectly impacted by the massacres on the island of Ambon. Many of their churches had been burned and several had lost loved ones in the attacks on Christians.

    As the meeting concluded, our colleague saw that young pastor making his way towards him. “Your being here has inspired me to go out and share the gospel in other areas,” he announced.

    “I am happy to hear that brother. Where has the Lord called you to?” he enquired.

    “To Ambon!”

    “My brother, are you sure. This is like signing your own death certificate. You know that most Christians are fleeing the massacre and you want to return?”

    His response was simple and without pretense. “If I don’t go back to tell the people about Jesus, who will do it? I am willing to give my life for Jesus!”

    RESPONSE: Today I will live prepared to die, and die prepared to live!

    PRAYER: When I fear you, Lord, I fear nothing else—even death. Today I pray for those who do not fear You and thus fear everything else—especially death.

  3. A few scripture verses for 2/6/16–

    Romans 2:7-9

    7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:

    8 But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,

    9 Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;

    *******************************************************
    Excellent timing! Sometimes we encounter people full of rage, hatred, and stubborn hearts. Some may lash out at us and everyone around them, all because they are holding onto unforgiveness and may need deliverance from things that have happened in their past. Many will blame everyone they encounter for the wrongs other people have done to them and continue on down the path of delusion. Many do not want deliverance and prefer to hold onto what they believe is “righteous anger”. Prayers are necessary to bring peace to all involved in these situations.

    Partial Definitions:
    contentious = causing or likely to cause an argument; controversial; debate
    indignation = anger or annoyance provoked by what is perceived as unfair treatment.

    1. Hi Anna:)
      Yes, a good walk is so very refreshing! it’s been quite some time since I screamed and yet I well remember when my temper blew. The beatitudes soaked down in my spirit yesterday. I’m not too sure I want to ask the Lord for more blessings of persecution yet, still in kindergarten here and God is leading me slowly through seeing those doing the bashing as very lost and never taking it personally. Easier when not family, yet Father is so amazing in how He lets us see them as little children to make it easier to pray effectively for them and not let the attacks, mocking, all those things stay in our hearts

      1. Sonshine, I took Cody (my dog) for a car ride during this excellent weather here. Sunny and close to 70 outside 🙂 Was very peaceful. I’ve been praying about an ongoing situation here and one thing came to mind — continue praying, but stand back at be still. What then came to mind was, imagine walking by a hornets nest and seeing all of them upset and ready to sting anyone and everyone! Sometimes we have to remove ourselves from those that are constantly in a state of anger and hatred.

        Will continue praying for this individual. I offered a very kind complement today, but it was rejected in anger??? The Lord has this all in his hands. I know that it’s not about me, it’s about what this person is holding onto — I just happen to be the one that gets lashed out at. I view all of this as training for me from the Lord 🙂

    BE NOT AFRAID
    I sought the Lord and he answered me; He delivered me from all my fears. Psalm 34:4

    The one positive fear that the Bible endorses is the fear of God. Wise Solomon said fearing God is the beginning of wisdom. It was Oswald Chambers who added, “The remarkable thing about fearing God is that, when you fear God, you fear nothing else; whereas, if you do not fear God, you fear everything else.”

    In Eritrea, Helen Berhane was frequently tortured during her almost three years in the shipping container prison. In spite of that she had no fear. Once when interrogated for teaching the Bible to the guards outside her cell, she replied:

    “I am always looking for opportunities to talk about my faith and to spread the news about Jesus. I am not ashamed of the gospel and I will talk to anyone and to everyone. Jesus does not just want me to tell the prisoners about him, he wants me to tell the guards too. Even if the president were to visit the prison, I would tell him about the gospel.

    “I am not afraid of you. You can do what you want to me, but ultimately all you can do is kill my body, you cannot touch my soul. You cannot even kill me unless it is God’s will that I should die.”[1]

    Her persecutors had no answer and returned her to her shipping container.

    David Aikman writes in his book Great Souls about the personal life of Pope John Paul II—especially his personal prayer life. When he became pope in 1978, the result of all that personal prayer was evident in his inaugural sermon. “Be not afraid!” he said.

    He recognized that fear is a sin because it denies the sovereignty of God. And he recognized that as a leader of a large Church, and unwaveringly opposed to the powerful communist empire, he had to give people the courage to resist evil.

    And courageous he was. When he saw Russian tanks poised to invade Poland, the Pope announced he would go and stand with his people if the Soviets crossed the border. The Soviet tanks did not move.

    The Pope knew he might face assassination—and indeed, someone did try to assassinate him—yet he continued to tell the world, “Be not afraid.”

    RESPONSE: Today I will live in the fear of God so that I will not fear anything or anyone else.

    PRAYER: Pray that all Christians in fearful situations today will have the attitude of trust in the Lord and not fear for their lives.

  5. Two things the Lord impress on me this morning:

    The anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God. Sometimes I feel frustrated and angry about all the delusion I see going on. But getting angry doesn’t win anyone to the truth.

    All the glory belongs to God. Whatever we might do that is good, the credit goes the Lord, who is the Source of all things.

    1. Well Mike if we take scripture as it is written then no good thing exists in our flesh. Only our spirit is capable of good if we have the Holy Spirit to bring ourselves into submission to do good.

      Even St Paul fought this and he was an apostle!

    1. For Confirmation, she referenced Ezekiel 21 & Amos 2.

      Ezekiel 21

      God’s Sword of Judgment
      The word of the Lord came to me again:
      2 “Son of man, turn your face toward Jerusalem and preach against the sanctuaries. Prophesy against the land of Israel,
      3 and say to it: This is what the Lord says: I am against you. I will draw My sword from its sheath and cut off both the righteous and the wicked from you.
      4 Since I will cut off both the righteous and the wicked, My sword will therefore come out of its sheath against everyone from the south to the north.
      5 So all the people will know that I, Yahweh, have taken My sword from its sheath—it will not be sheathed again.
      6 “But you, son of man, groan! Groan bitterly with a broken heart right before their eyes.
      7 And when they ask you, ‘Why are you groaning?’ then say: Because of the news that is coming. Every heart will melt, and every hand will become weak. Every spirit will be discouraged, and every knee will turn to water. Yes, it is coming and it will happen.” This is the declaration of the Lord God.
      8 The word of the Lord came to me:
      9 “Son of man, prophesy: This is what the Lord says! You are to proclaim:
      A sword! A sword is sharpened and also polished.
      10 It is sharpened for slaughter, polished to flash like lightning!
      Should we rejoice? The scepter of My son,
      the sword despises every tree.
      11 The sword is given to be polished, to be grasped in the hand.
      It is sharpened, and it is polished, to be put in the hand of the slayer.
      12 Cry out and wail, son of man, for it is against My people.
      It is against all the princes of Israel!
      They are given over to the sword with My people.
      Therefore strike your thigh in grief.
      13 Surely it will be a trial!
      And what if the sword despises even the scepter?
      The scepter will not continue.
      This is the declaration of the Lord God.
      14 Therefore, son of man, prophesy and clap your hands together.
      Let the sword strike two times, even three.
      It is a sword for massacre, a sword for great massacre—
      it surrounds them!
      15 I have appointed a sword for slaughter
      at all their gates, so that their hearts may melt
      and many may stumble. Yes! It is ready to flash like lightning;
      it is drawn for slaughter.
      16 Slash to the right; turn to the left—
      wherever your blade is directed.
      17 I also will clap My hands together, and I will satisfy My wrath.
      I, Yahweh, have spoken.”
      18 Then the word of the Lord came to me:
      19 “Now you, son of man, mark out two roads that the sword of Babylon’s king can take. Both of them should originate from the same land. And make a signpost at the fork in the road to each city.
      20 Mark out a road that the sword can take to Rabbah of the Ammonites and to Judah into fortified Jerusalem.
      21 For the king of Babylon stands at the split in the road, at the fork of the two roads, to practice divination: he shakes the arrows, consults the idols, and observes the liver.
      22 The answer marked Jerusalem appears in his right hand, indicating that he should set up battering rams, give the order to slaughter, raise a battle cry, set battering rams against the gates, build a ramp, and construct a siege wall.
      23 It will seem like false divination in the eyes of those who have sworn an oath to the Babylonians, but it will draw attention to their guilt so that they will be captured.
      24 “Therefore, this is what the Lord God says: Because you have drawn attention to your guilt, exposing your transgressions, so that your sins are revealed in all your actions, since you have done this, you will be captured by them.
      25 And you, profane and wicked prince of Israel,
      the day has come for your punishment.”
      26 This is what the Lord God says:
      Remove the turban, and take off the crown.
      Things will not remain as they are;
      exalt the lowly and bring down the exalted.
      27 A ruin, a ruin, I will make it a ruin!
      Yet this will not happen until He comes;
      I have given the judgment to Him.
      28 “Now prophesy, son of man, and say: This is what the Lord God says concerning the Ammonites and their contempt. You are to proclaim:
      A sword! A sword is drawn for slaughter,
      polished to consume, to flash like lightning.
      29 While they offer false visions and lying divinations about you,
      the time has come to put you to the necks of the profane wicked ones;
      the day has come for your punishment.
      30 Return it to its sheath! I will judge you
      in the place where you were created,
      in the land of your origin.
      31 I will pour out My indignation on you;
      I will blow the fire of My fury on you.
      I will hand you over to brutal men, skilled at destruction.
      32 You will be fuel for the fire. Your blood will be spilled in the land.
      You will not be remembered, for I, Yahweh, have spoken.”

      Amos 2

      The Lord says:
      I will not relent from punishing Moab
      for three crimes, even four,
      because he burned the bones
      of the king of Edom to lime.
      2 Therefore, I will send fire against Moab,
      and it will consume the citadels of Kerioth.
      Moab will die with a tumult,
      with shouting and the sound of the ram’s horn.
      3 I will cut off the judge from the land
      and kill all its officials with him.
      The Lord has spoken.

      4 The Lord says:
      I will not relent from punishing Judah
      for three crimes, even four,
      because they have rejected the instruction of the Lord
      and have not kept His statutes.
      The lies that their ancestors followed
      have led them astray.
      5 Therefore, I will send fire against Judah,
      and it will consume the citadels of Jerusalem.

      6 The Lord says:
      I will not relent from punishing Israel
      for three crimes, even four,
      because they sell a righteous person for silver
      and a needy person for a pair of sandals.
      7 They trample the heads of the poor
      on the dust of the ground
      and block the path of the needy.
      A man and his father have sexual relations
      with the same girl,
      profaning My holy name.
      8 They stretch out beside every altar
      on garments taken as collateral,
      and in the house of their God,
      they drink wine obtained through fines.
      9 Yet I destroyed the Amorite as Israel advanced;
      his height was like the cedars,
      and he was as sturdy as the oaks;
      I destroyed his fruit above and his roots beneath.
      10 And I brought you from the land of Egypt
      and led you 40 years in the wilderness
      in order to possess the land of the Amorite.
      11 I raised up some of your sons as prophets
      and some of your young men as Nazirites.
      Is this not the case, Israelites?
      This is the Lord’s declaration.
      12 But you made the Nazirites drink wine
      and commanded the prophets,
      “Do not prophesy.”
      13 Look, I am about to crush you in your place
      as a wagon full of sheaves crushes grain.
      14 Escape will fail the swift,
      the strong one will not prevail by his strength,
      and the brave will not save his life.
      15 The archer will not stand his ground,
      the one who is swift of foot
      will not save himself,
      and the one riding a horse will not save his life.
      16 Even the most courageous of the warriors
      will flee naked on that day—
      this is the Lord’s declaration.

    2. JC, who did the video? I am not recognizing the voice and am thinking of posting it on FB. I went back on the site a few days ago. I thought I understood why, some are in crisis but also this pressing urgency doesn’t let up. I know there is the Lords peace in it, knowing it’s all in His hands yet, that doesn’t mean others have His Peace.

        Here’s the information I found on her YouTube “Jesuslives444″Page:

        Description
        This channel was created to give all glory and praise to Jesus Christ. We, as believers are to encourage one another and grow together as the body of Christ. I am saved by grace, a born again believer of Jesus Christ, when I gave my heart to Jesus at 13 years old.

        I have been getting dreams and visions since I gave my heart to Jesus. However, the dreams and visions increased dramatically in April of 2015, when I totally surrendered my will to Jesus, and decided to pick up my cross and actually follow Jesus….

        I hope and pray that my channel (Actually the Lord’s channel), will encourage you and bring forth fruit into your life.

  6. Mike, thanks for sharing those messages on your blog.

    May the Lord guide each and everyone one of us on preparing to be ready. May he also guard the hearts and tongues of anyone that is ready to get into scriptural debate with us about the When, The How, Where, Why, etc…

    My favorite parts that help me personally are in Matthew 24:

    VS 13

    13 But the one who endures to the end will be delivered.

    VS 21-22

    21 For at that time there will be great tribulation, the kind that hasn’t taken place from the beginning of the world until now and never will again!
    22 Unless those days were limited, no one would survive. But those days will be limited because of the elect.

    VS 29-31

    29 “Immediately after the tribulation of those days:
    The sun will be darkened,
    and the moon will not shed its light;
    the stars will fall from the sky,
    and the celestial powers will be shaken.
    30 “Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the peoples of the earth will mourn; and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
    31 He will send out His angels with a loud trumpet, and they will gather His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.

    VS 36-37

    36 “Now concerning that day and hour no one knows—neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son —except the Father only.
    37 As the days of Noah were, so the coming of the Son of Man will be.

    DOUBT AND FEAR
    But as for me, I keep watch for the Lord, I wait in hope for God my Savior; my God will hear me. Do not gloat over me my enemy! Though I have fallen, I will rise. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light. Because I have sinned against him, I will bear the Lord’s wrath, until he pleads my case and establishes my right. He will bring me out into the light; I will see his justice. Micah 7:7-9

    Chinese Pastor Wang Ming-dao was under tremendous pressure after his first arrest in the mid-1950’s. He was promised release from prison and return to his pulpit if he would just “preach for the government.” In his mind this would be lying and he was certain he could not live a hypocritical life.

    Pastor Wang was firm in his resolve, until he heard that his beloved wife, Debra, had also been arrested and was in grave danger. He heard that she was not eating properly and was growing critically weak because of the poor food she was receiving in prison. She would not survive if something were not done. This news so disturbed him that he broke and agreed with his persecutors that he would preach “a lie” and join the government-controlled church.

    His plan was to get his wife to safety with her mother and then he would commit suicide. He reportedly wandered the streets murmuring “I am Peter…I am Peter…” and his heart sickness began to affect his body.

    When the authorities realized that he would not compromise himself by preaching in the government-controlled church, Pastor Wang and wife, Debra, were re-arrested. She received a fifteen-year sentence and he life imprisonment.

    Early in this second imprisonment, God brought these verses from Micah 7:7-9 to his mind, which he had memorized at the age of twenty-one.

    Wang Ming-dao was no longer afraid—for himself or his wife. He was finally released in 1980 at eighty years of age—very frail, nearly blind and all-but-deaf. He had served over twenty-three years in prison. His wife Debra had been released three years earlier for health reasons. For the remaining eleven years of his life he was a great encouragement to the church in China as well as the many foreign visitors he and Debra entertained.

    RESPONSE: Today I will not give in to Satan’s tactics of doubt and fear. I will concentrate on the greater cost to Jesus of my redemption.

    PRAYER: Thank you Lord for the reminder that persecuted Christians are not super-heroes but they show us how our failure must turn into repentance and renewal with deeper dependence on You and not into self-condemnation.

    DO NOT LISTEN TO THE LIES OF THE ENEMY: LET ME WIPE YOUR TEARS AWAY
    Now because man has built his own kingdom without God, God is evicting us from His kingdom if we do not repent and bow before Him.
    Daughter, continue to write. I AM sees with His own eyes all the hearts of people. Very few are actively seeking me or taking My Word seriously or heeding the messages of my messengers, watchmen and prophets. Most have decided to go their own way, the wrong way, and their hearts have waxed cold towards me.
    Some of my chosen vessels are sent to give stern warnings, some are given words of encouragement to share, some are given dreams and visions to share, some are intercessors called to pray, some are called to teach, some to preach. Do you not yet understand that I, King of Kings, am in control of all things and use my created beings as I see fit? I choose them, they did not choose me.
    Children, you all come from Me, your Father and you must return to Me or else perish and be forever void of My light, thrown into utter darkness and eternal torment forever. Is this truly what you desire? I love all My children and have pleaded out of love for your souls, to return, to come back to the One who knit you in your mother’s womb. It grieves me so to see My children choose eternal death and flames because they love the enemy’s toys: their TV’s, their phones, their games, their homes and all the other lusts of this world and have disregarded My moral truths, My moral compass, My instruction, My commandments and My statutes. These were put in place not to harm you but to bless you my children.
    The lusts of this world will never satisfy and you will endlessly keep searching for more things of no value to fill your emptiness. Do you not see how chasing after lust and idols keeps you from receiving what I desire to give you in your lives? Only I can give love no man can give, only I can heal your wounds, only I can heal your heart, only I can bring the peace you so desire and cry out for and only I can save you!
    Do you not see how the enemy’s only concern is to keep you from Me, from experiencing all I have for you and how he wants to keep you distracted, busy so that you never have any intimacy with Me? Will you let him steal your joy, everlasting life for a few moments of temporal pleasure?
    My children, The Great I Am is Creator of heaven and earth and all therein. Only I know the days you have on this earth. It grieves me to see you follow the one who seeks to steal, kill and destroy rather than accept my offer of peace, love and everlasting life. You cannot take the things of this world with you when I call you home.
    Do not be afraid to come to Me. I already know your sins and your shame. I left my heavenly throne to live, die and rise again so that you would see that I came because I love you that much. Only I can cleanse you and forgive you. Nothing is too hard for me and there is nothing I have not seen. Did I die in vain? I would have come even if it meant only one desired salvation. My love is true and my love will last forever if you just cry out to Me with a contrite heart and accept me as Lord & Savior. I will never refuse or deny a contrite heart.
    Come to Me, Come Back To Me. All things of this world will pass away but only I remain. Will you be My Bride? Will you sup with Me at my table? Won’t you come and drink of living waters? I AM is here, I am waiting! Do not listen to the lies of the enemy My Child!
    Those who have cried, repented and returned to me testify of Me. Their lives have been changed because of Me. Healing comes from My hands. I desire you to have what they now have , to experience the joy and peace and my love!
    Come back to me My Children! Time is short! Do not forfeit your salvation! Choose Wisely! My salvation is free. I desire to give this free gift to you. Let me wipe your tears away!
    I love you,
    Yeshua
    1 John 4:10 (KJV) “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.”
    John 15:13 (KJV) Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
    John 14:6 (KJV) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
    John 5:24 (KJV) 24 Verily, verily, I say unto you*, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
    Matthew 10:28-33 (KJV) 28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. 29 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. 30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows. 32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. 33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.
