I Serve A Risen Savior

The title of this post comes from an old hymn “I Serve A Risen Savior (He Lives)”.

Matthew 28:1-10

Resurrection Morning

After the Sabbath, as the first day of the week was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to view the tomb.

both_marys_at_tomb

2 Suddenly there was a violent earthquake, because an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and approached the tomb. He rolled back the stone and was sitting on it.

3 His appearance was like lightning, and his robe was as white as snow.

4 The guards were so shaken from fear of him that they became like dead men.

5 But the angel told the women, “Don’t be afraid, because I know you are looking for Jesus who was crucified.

matthew28_6

6 He is not here! For He has been resurrected, just as He said. Come and see the place where He lay.

7 Then go quickly and tell His disciples, ‘He has been raised from the dead. In fact, He is going ahead of you to Galilee; you will see Him there.’ Listen, I have told you.”

8 So, departing quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, they ran to tell His disciples the news.

matthew28_9

9 Just then Jesus met them and said, “Good morning!” They came up, took hold of His feet, and worshiped Him.

10 Then Jesus told them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell My brothers to leave for Galilee, and they will see Me there.”

Mark 16:9-20

Appearances of the Risen Lord
9 Early on the first day of the week, after He had risen, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had driven seven demons.

10 She went and reported to those who had been with Him, as they were mourning and weeping.

11 Yet, when they heard that He was alive and had been seen by her, they did not believe it.

12 Then after this, He appeared in a different form to two of them walking on their way into the country.

13 And they went and reported it to the rest, who did not believe them either.

The Great Commission

mark16_14
14 Later, He appeared to the Eleven themselves as they were reclining at the table. He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who saw Him after He had been resurrected.

15 Then He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to the whole creation.

16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In My name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new languages;

18 they will pick up snakes; if they should drink anything deadly, it will never harm them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will get well.”

The Ascension

19 Then after speaking to them, the Lord Jesus was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.

20 And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word by the accompanying signs.]

  1. This is the crux of IT all. WHO will not believe is condemned! I have thought for a long time that once you believe its something in your countenance that God sees that changes. When you are condemned by a judge he sees someone WHO is judged for crimes and deeds against the law.
And i judge witnessing a condemned sees essentially guilt in that chair and i suppose until evidence is brought forth to contrary his perception will remain that way.

With Belief in Christ that evidence is brought forth on our part and the judge frees us from guilt and admonishes us to live in accordance with the saving grace that took away our guilt!

I guess a Simple view but one that im not the author of 👀

SHUN FEAR AND COURAGEOUSLY PRESS ON
But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. “Do not fear their threats; do not be frightened.” 1 Peter 3:14

One of the major tactics of Satan is to use difficult situations to create fear in us and thus immobilize our witness. For example, during the 9/11 attack in USA, Heather Mercer and Dayna Curry were being held in a prison in Afghanistan. In an interview with Christianity Today magazine on the tenth anniversary of 9/11, Heather Mercer said, “There is not a day that goes by that I don’t think about it. God sent me to prison to set me free. I don’t think I realized how much fear I actually had in my life until I had to confront some of my deepest, darkest fears. When I first set out to go to Afghanistan, I knew it might cost me my life to reach Muslims with the love of Jesus. Then I had this opportunity to face that fear of, ‘What would I do if someone tried to kill me for sharing the gospel?’ God made Himself known in such a profound way that now, what do I have to fear?”[1]

In Papua New Guinea (PNG), Wycliffe’s Sue Ambrose was out for a walk on February 4th, 2009. She was talking to the Lord about people, issues and life. As she continued her walk, she read memory verses from three Gospels that say, “Whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.”

The slapping sound of bare feet running on packed earth causes her to turn around to see a crazed PNG man charge her with a large machete-like knife raised murderously above his head. After a quick altercation and feeling as though she was dying, Sue was rushed to the medical clinic where friends and co-workers were shocked to see her in such grave condition: many abrasions; a damaged hand; a puncture wound near the sternum just below the diaphragm and lungs; and the knife still stuck fast in her hip.

Sue was remarkably calm through the process and felt no pain. Once stabilized, she was transferred to medical facilities in Australia. While in hospital, God gave Sue a clear vision of an angel, “A big warrior kind of guy that was eight or ten feet tall with his sword raised, saying, ‘No, that is enough! I am not going to let you kill her.’” Sue says, “That really opened my eyes to the whole spiritual realm; that this man was part of Satan’s attacks on us, on the training centre and on the work of SIL.”

Two and a half weeks after being air-lifted out of the country, Sue returned to her ministry in PNG. The Wycliffe magazine, Word Alive reported: That seemingly simple act proves to be a strong counterstrike to the enemy—a living sermon calling others to shun fear and courageously press on in their respective callings. “I don’t think that I ever considered not going back,” says Sue. “God has given us the strength to return and it has spoken volumes to people.” Sue models an attitude that we all must grasp, the article concluded. Let fear not rule![2]

RESPONSE: Today I will not allow the enemy to use the tactic of fear against me.

PRAYER: Thank You, Lord, for the wonderful examples of fearlessness shown by Your people today.

  3. On the road again. JC the dream you shared similar to mine was indeed a warning dream. I had another one last night, that was clear as day unless there’s more I am missing.

There was a huge group of young people/teens in a large church gathering. Holy Spirit had moved mightily and there were several youth surrounding me, hugging and crying while the Lord healed/was healing. (i worked with youth in the past) It was a long event so I was out in my car changing into nicer clothes for the next part. Suddenly my mother was sitting in the car with me very angry that I was taking time to spend with these youth and she remarked, “what on earth are you doing!?”
I responded this was how the Lord, Holy Spirit worked and moved to heal and much more. It was sad that she not only did not understand. I saw a very angry religious spirit 😦

    1. Sonshine, I can relate to that type of behavior(you described from your mother) from some of my own family members. I’ve had some very horrific dreams about my parents, related to their disbelief and denouncement of their faith. Both dreams seemed that they were filled with demons and they had no problems with verbal blasphemies.

  4. From my own mother i had only good things to say except that she is too unselfish and unsecure. I have that attribute too and the worst part of it is that im too private with my beliefs in flesh!

Its only here and some other forums im this vocal.

I requesr prayer for my mother she is 74 this year and though a good person she has never publicly said she has Christ as saviour.

Although i think she believes but she never admitted it.

I love my mother very much and heaven id like to see her with the rest of my family! The rest of them are very worldly though.

    A Heart With Stubborn Love

And David shepherded them with integrity of heart; with skillful hands he led them. (Psalm 78:72, NIV)

Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. (Psalm 23:6, NIV)

David’s heart was characterized, right down to the core, by stubborn love. In Psalm 78:72 we read that David shepherded the people with integrity of heart. The idea here is that his heart was undivided. It’s the opposite of fickle. He loved people with the loyal heart of a shepherd who kept loving the sheep, even when they were obstinate. Think about how David loved Saul, even when it was hard. King Saul became increasingly corrupt and tormented by pathological jealousy of David. Saul was constantly deceiving David and on several occasions he tried to kill him. What’s most amazing is how, through it all, David loved him. Twice David could have killed Saul — and he would have been justified in the eyes of most people — but he refused to do it. When Saul finally died, David wrote one of the most beautiful poems ever written as a lament for him, “How the mighty have fallen! . . . O daughters of Israel, weep for Saul!” How could David find tears for a man like that? He knew all about Saul’s faults, better than anybody, and he knew about Saul’s possibilities, and he loved him to the end.

At the end of Psalm 23, David declares, with a passionate heart, “I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.” He loved God with a stubborn love that would not relent. He didn’t say, “I hope that I will dwell in the house of the Lord.” He didn’t say, “It may be that I’ll dwell in the house.” David had the heart of a racehorse. He declared for all to hear, “I’m staying in the house. I know I make a mess sometimes, and I may spill on the rug, and knock down the lamps, and break all the expensive stuff. I know what a pain it is to have me in the house, but I’ll tell you what: You’re going to have to drag me out of here kicking and screaming. I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” That was the heart of David and it can be our heart as well.

Think of how David loved people and loved God with a stubborn love.

Thank God for a person in your life who has exemplified stubborn love for you. How has their life taught you about the heart of God? Think of a person whom you can love more stubbornly.

Thank God for opening his house to you through the life, love, and sacrifice of Jesus. Thank God for loving you that much. Declare to God that you love him and that you will joyfully dwell in his house forever!

  6. Keep in mind that the Lord may have prompted them to remain hidden for a purpose we don’t understand. This is about a personal walk with the Lord and listening to what he is telling us to do. What the Lord tells someone to do , may just be for them. Again, it’s important that we don’t follow others but instead follow Jesus.

    1. Only the Lord knows the truth in all these things. Much evil has been going on for years and covered up. Adding a bit of humor here — you can only put Febreze on smelly things so long, for pretty soon that foul stench will come out.

    2. Very interesting. Thanks for sharing Stig.

I’ve had an unsettling feeling about the body language this man displays along with many other things he does and says…about his life in general…so truly, no surprises here. Even if he’s not involved, his choice of architecture seems to be honoring the Freemasons. From one who has been studying the them for many years…what we see here isn’t much of a stretch. One must ask why a building/home with this sort of architecture would be used if the person who is building it isn’t involved in some way.

I think a (key word here) “persuasive” case has been made. Is it true??? Maybe…maybe not. Let me say this. If you believe in the “New World Order”…then by default you must know (without a doubt) someone WILL be “THE ONE” (the leader) who ushers
the world into it’s “coming out”. That said we must always be seeking truth and knowledge so “NOT” to be fooled. But most of us know that.

“Truth searches for no one. It waits to be found.” ~unknown

  7. Text of Jonathan Cahns speech! Now call me any derogatory term in the book but im smelling fishy here? All the big names are falling head over heels for Trump????

Anyone else get bad vibes out of this? To be fair he did give some fair warnings too!

Jonathan Cahn calls out Obama, gives charge to Trump
Messianic rabbi stuns at Inaugural Prayer Breakfast

His last speech at the annual gathering in the nation’s capital was called “the most important speech given in modern American history.”

But the tone could not have been more different when Jonathan Cahn returned to the Inaugural Prayer Breakfast, held just before Donald J. Trump succeeded Barack Obama as commander in chief. The messianic rabbi, whom some have called “America’s Prophet” and the author of sensational bestsellers, including the new devotional “The Book Of Mysteries,” hailed the rise of Trump as an example of God’s will.

Warning the audience his message would be “true” rather than “politically correct,” Cahn reminded them it is God who decides who rules nations and empires.

“We’ve come from every part of this land to stand before the Almighty, before whom kings and kingdoms rise and fall, and nations ascend and descend, Who alone remains the same yesterday, today and forever,” he intoned.

The Bible teacher presented a grim image of the Obama era and spoke of the remarkable victory of the new president as a sign of God’s hand in the affairs of men.

“America stood at the threshold,” he said. “In the face of an election that threatened to establish for ages the edicts of apostasy and the ways of godlessness, and an open war against the people and gospel of God. And then there was Donald Trump. There had never been a candidate like him. Whatever it was that one was never supposed to do while running for president, he did them all.”

Cahn’s remarks were met with applause and laughter. But after all, what else could explain Trump’s unprecedented victory except for God?

“Poll after poll foretold a sure Democratic victory if not a landslide,” Cahn said. “The Democrats prepared for victory. The Republicans prepared for defeat … but then something happened. And nobody was sure what exactly what. The election took a strange turn and whatever everybody was sure couldn’t happen, happened. The media was in shock. The Democrats were in shock. Obama was in shock. The Republicans were in shock. Obama was in shock. And it appears Donald Trump couldn’t believe it happened, either.

“But as it was written in ancient times, it is no less true to this day: ‘As high as the heavens are above the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways. And My thoughts than your thoughts.’ And as we can bear witness today in the city of Washington, on January 20, 2017, with God, nothing, shall be, impossible.”

Cahn framed Trump’s triumph as part of a continuing national drama that has defined America’s history, the same struggle between faith and apostasy that shaped the history of Israel. He spoke of Israel and the United States as the only nations in history founded “solely for the glory of God.”

Cahn cited John Winthrop, the governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony who prophesied if America followed the ways of God, the Lord would “command a blessing” upon a people who were to be “as a city upon a hill.”

Indeed, explained Cahn, that is precisely what happened.

“Those who came to these shores four centuries ago dedicated the new civilization to God and consecrated it to His will and purposes,” Cahn said. “America was to be a city on a hill, a holy commonwealth. Its first governments were established in the name of Jesus and for the glory of God. Its public school system was founded for the purpose of teaching the Word of God. And as Winthrop had prophesied, God had commanded a blessing. America would become the most blessed, the most powerful and the most prosperous nation the world had ever seen, a praise and glory in the earth.”

Yet as with ancient Israel, America turned away from God, said Cahn, driving “Him out of our culture, out of our government, out of our lives and [banning] Him from our public squares.”

Instead of honoring the God of Israel, Cahn charged, America honored the idols of “carnality and gain, and gods of materialism and licentiousness.”

Take the first step on a journey which will transform your life in 2017. The keys to spiritual knowledge are presented as you embark on an incredible yearlong quest in “The Book of Mysteries,” the latest can’t miss book by messianic rabbi Jonathan Cahn. Available now at the WND Superstore.

The administration of Barack Obama, said Cahn, was the culmination of this process.

“In the past years eight years, America’s spiritual fall and moral descent has both deepened and accelerated,” he said. “The present administration has led this nation to champion the killing of the unborn, and not only within its own borders, but in that of other nations across the world. The present administration has labored to strike down the standards and order ordained by God concerning man and woman and marriage, not only within these borders, but around the world.”

Speaking directly to Obama, in the last hour of his presidency, Cahn asked the outgoing president: “If you overturn the edicts of God, should you be surprised that your own edicts will now be overturned? And if you strike down the precepts of God, will not your own precepts be struck down?”

“Under the [Obama] administration,” Cahn said, “relations between the United States and Israel have been brought to their lowest point in the history of the two nations. And the administration’s parting gift to the Jewish nation was to abandon it at the United Nations, to allow and even foster a resolution declaring that Israel’s ancient holy city Jerusalem, belonged not to Israel, but was, quote, ‘Palestinian territory.’ In this way too, the present administration was waging war against the Word of God.”

Given all this, Cahn suggested it is not surprising God “intervened” to essentially nullify Obama’s entire legacy. Yet this does not mean America is saved. The election is not the answer, Cahn said, but a window in which the answer can come. America is being given a chance.

“In the days of Israel’s apostasy, when the people were warring against His ways, God extended His mercy,” the rabbi explained. “He gave the people time to repent. So too, in the days of our apostasy, God is giving us a time to repent.”

Thus, the Trump administration should not be regarded as an unmitigated triumph. Instead, Cahn showed, it is a charge and a challenge laid before both the nation and the new chief executive. It is for American believers to fulfill what is commanded in 2 Chronicles 7:14 – to seek God’s face and turn from their wicked ways. And it is for Donald Trump, a man who has not lived the life of a believer, to now become a vessel for God.

Cahn gave a charge to the new president.

“As you are lifted up to become the most powerful man on earth, remember always that it is the Almighty who lifts up kings to the throne, and the Almighty who removes them,” Cahn said to Trump. “Your authority comes not from man but from God, the King above all kings. Therefore, submit your life to His authority, and by His authority you shall lead. Do justly, love mercy and walk humbly with your God.

“Your life has been a vessel of your will. Now it must become the vessel of His will and His purposes. Walk in His footsteps, seek His righteousness, and follow the leading of His voice.

“Uphold His ways, and you shall be upheld. Keep His Word and you shall be kept. Give honor to His name, above all names, and your name shall be honored. Love the Lord your God, with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. If you do this, and you will arise, and you will shine, and the glory of the Lord will rise upon you.”

Such words may seem strange to those who seek secular explanations for political events. Yet after a year when nearly every political expert, every experienced strategist and every established institution was confounded and discredited, Americans are more open than ever to the simple truth at the heart of America’s destiny. If Americans repent and seek revival, God will answer their prayers, he said.

After all, the rabbi suggested, he already has. Just look at who is in the White House today.

“What was it that all the experts and pollsters missed?” Cahn asked. “The answer was 3,000 years old: ‘If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their evil ways, then I will hear from heaven, I will forgive their sin, and I will heal their land.’

“For the power of prayer is stronger than kingdoms. And God is faithful. And His promises are true.”

    1. Oh, it feels like a punch in the gut every time I see a watchman fall for the delusion. Now Cahn is added to the list.

The Bible says the pattern goes like this: SIN ==> DELUSION ==> JUDGMENT. Hopefully JUDGMENT ==> REPENTANCE and RESTORATION. Otherwise JUDGMENT==> DEATH.

I don’t know Jonathan Cahn and he seems to have a lot of integrity. But I see a problem here as quoted in the article:

“The messianic rabbi, whom some have called ‘America’s Prophet’ and the author of sensational BESTSELLERS, including the new devotional ‘The Book Of Mysteries,’ hailed the rise of Trump as an example of God’s will.

As Linda previously pointed out, ministers are not supposed to be selling God’s messages for a profit:

“Her leaders pronounce judgment for a bribe,
Her priests instruct for a price
And her prophets divine for money.
Yet they lean on the Lord saying,
“Is not the Lord in our midst?
Calamity will not come upon us.” – Micah 3:11

In any case, thanks for posting that Stig-Ove.

    1. Ron, I know I’ve run across many parts of scripture that people have tried to debate with me. I had to put a stop to that almost as soon as I started this blog. Those debates started on Facebook (which has been deactivated for a long time), and often the debates were from quoting scripture and not adding my own thoughts. I try to put humor in the “about the author” portion — I let people know that those things go directly into the “Virtual Trash Can” 🙂

Sometimes I just simply ask the Lord questions for myself. He will guide each and everyone of us in all things when we are willing to listen. Glad to see you here Ron. You are welcome to stop by any time.
