The Need For Watchfulness

Luke 21:34-35

34 “Be on your guard, so that your minds are not dulled from carousing, drunkenness, and worries of life, or that day will come on you unexpectedly

35 like a trap. For it will come on all who live on the face of the whole earth.

36 But be alert at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place and to stand before the Son of Man.”

1 Peter 5:8
Be serious! Be alert! Your adversary the Devil is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for anyone he can devour.

Matthew 24:42-43

42 Therefore be alert, since you don’t know what day your Lord is coming.

43 But know this: If the homeowner had known what time the thief was coming, he would have stayed alert and not let his house be broken into.

Matthew 25:13 “Therefore be alert, because you don’t know either the day or the hour.

Mark 13:35 Therefore be alert, since you don’t know when the master of the house is coming—whether in the evening or at midnight or at the crowing of the rooster or early in the morning.

Colossians 4:2  Devote yourselves to prayer; stay alert in it with thanksgiving.

Revelation 3:3 Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; keep it, and repent. But if you are not alert, I will come like a thief, and you have no idea at what hour I will come against you.

    1. The followers of the evil one are inherently blind and are only sensate to our current 3d world and those practising occultism can tap limitedly into the 4th dimension or time.

But even an master occultist gifted with divination skill can only catch glimpses, vague such. Im quite certain the most of the devils facts comes from studying scripture by himself. But scripture dont open without the Holy Spirit no matter how intelligent and educated and experienced one is.

Watchfulness is tied to being awake and to be fully awake you need to know the bridegroom is coming and to hold lampoil with you in sufficient quantity.

The eye is darkened indeed if it is not full of scriptural light. Thats how you keep your lamp trimmed for Jesus arrival!

  1. Im just now studying 1 Cor 4:20 with an concordance point by point and boy does it give me a little eyeopener.

The kingdom of God is not in word but power.

That phrase alone studied in word says i am the Alpha and the Omega! It bluntly says i have complete mastery of time and everything above, between and after.
    G1722,G1519+G1537 in strongs concordance.
And it implies mastery as a ruler with a rod.
Remember thy rod and thy staff comfort me in the valley of the shadow of death.

The Lord is my high tower says psalms. Residing in his tower ie his word and his presence we can get views also that only those with the mind of God ie the Holy Spirit can have.

Shew thyself to be a workman says the bible. Its easy, take Gods word for it and not mine!

Already the languages used and their total meaning as we can glimpse them in flesh is convincing enough to me of what the bible is. The key to creation and time unlocked to those who love and follow the Lord and his Word.

  2. Stuck on 1Co 2:16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. Seriously been taking this in for months. The strongs study on it is excellent.

We/I use very little of what He gave us to use for the sake of the Gospel. One thing that really hits home for me also, is that Jesus healed all! Out of His compassion. He didn’t stop and ask them if they had sin in their lives first or tell them to clean it up!

Goes very well with 1 Cor 4:20 when out (or in) ministering healing/etc.

I love the way you drew out the rod and staff!

Mastery of time……..working on it…………yet in another context, mastery of time = we know the times and seasons……add to this parallel dimensions and time………..oh my, only a glimpse of what is here and what is to come…..yet enough to know where “home” is

  3. Yes, it is definitely time to stay alert.

Two or three nights ago I was up late praying and seeking confirmation and insight into the times we are in, and also about Obama and Trump and their roles in it.

Next morning my daughter came in my office and showed me Judges 9, specifically Jotham’s parable of the trees, because she felt like God wanted to show her something there. She also said she flipped open to a page on her Bible and felt that was significant too. There was an illustration that showed the writing on the wall for Belshazzar in Daniel 5.

I think the Lord did have a message for her in there, but it was also an answer to my prayer. Judges 9 and the story of Abimelech is something the Lord has brought to our attention several times in the past, but I never really understood the significance of it. Then it hit me that Abimelech is a prophetic metaphor for Obama. As a judgment, God allows a spirit of conflict to arise that provokes a form of civil war between Abilelech and the men of Shechem. Lots of bloodshed happens as a result. Gaal in the story is, I think, Trump, the one who instigates the civil war by rousing people against Abilelech. After a series of military victories, Abimelech gets a fatal head wound from a millstone dropped on him. This is very interesting in light of this description of the beast in Revelation 13:

“I saw one of his heads as if it had been slain, and his fatal wound was healed.” – Revelation 13:3

The story of Belshazzar and the hand writing on the wall is, I think, a metaphor that applies Trump:

“Now this is the inscription that was written out: ‘MENĒ, MENĒ, TEKĒL, UPHARSIN.’ This is the interpretation of the message: ‘MENĒ’—God has numbered your kingdom and put an end to it. ‘TEKĒL’—you have been weighed on the scales and found deficient. ‘PERĒS’—your kingdom has been divided and given over to the Medes and Persians… That same night Belshazzar the Chaldean king was slain.” – Daniel 5:25-28,30

    1. The thing with celebrity christians is that they talk almost always about God but rarely mentions Jesus. Why is that? Many rich people practice a version of gnosticism where your good deeds have to outdo the bad.
I noticed that they said there looking at the stars and praising HIM in capital letters.

There is a Heavy metal band in Finland quite big Even internationally that is named Him. His infernal majesty IT stands for. The bible warns of the worship of the host of heaven ie stars and angels. Im afraid IF the name of Jesus Christ is not elevated some of this might be for show!

Just me spidey sense giving some signs here, good day to y’all as sonshine prefers the Texas way 🤓

…for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. 1 John 5:4

We often think that faith is our duty, or something we can give back to God. In reality, we cannot even do that on our own. There is nothing we can give to God. We must rely on Him for everything—even our faith. When we accept it as His precious gift, we find victory over sin and trials. We could never have this victory if we relied only on our own tenuous faith. “Faith does not always provide exemption from suffering, but it does keep us from being defeated at the hands of suffering.”

Carl Moeller, Open Doors’ USA President says, “I met secretly with a courageous believer who had been forced to hang from his ankles or wrists every day, subjected to repeated beatings and was crammed in a three-foot square box for three weeks.

Racked by memories of the agony he’d been through, Aran had been looking at me with a pained expression until I asked the question, “What were you thinking or feeling during that time?”

His face completely changed. A huge smile broke across it, and he gave me two thumbs up.

    What was he thinking…?

Aran simply said, “That I was counted worthy to suffer for Jesus Christ.”

A Christian leader in another restricted country shared the situation there in these words:

In our country, we live in the midst of a pressure cooker. To survive as Christians, we must have a pressure cooker faith. Our young people decide for Christ not because He offers them the most, or because it is fashionable, but because they consider that here is One worth dying for. That may even be what their discipleship may have for them.

Standing Strong Through the Storm (SSTS) examines persecution and the results of persecution—suffering and martyrdom. Satan wants to dishearten us and create hopelessness because of persecution and suffering. We will expose Satan’s lies and show how by faith we can experience God’s restoration of our hope—“the oxygen of the human spirit.”

RESPONSE: Today I will rely on the Lord to walk by faith and not by sight, no matter what happens.

PRAYER: Lord, help me to ignore Satan’s lies and live victoriously today by faith in the hope which only You can give and restore.

  5. Is White House getting ready to declare war on Russia and possibly use that for purposes of putting Martial Law in place and maybe even stop the inauguration scheduled on January 20th, 2017?? We will see how this all unfolds.

    1. Absolutely, things are about to go south fast! Never had this intense warfare, yet also His peace for what is at our doorsteps. All is in place, the watching has reached a place of simply knowing all is here, all is unfolding, has been unfolding and will keep doing so. I pray the first “shaking” will wake many and not be the proverbial frog in the pot syndrome we’ve been experiencing.

  6. Matthew 24:4-14
4 Then Jesus replied to them: “Watch out that no one deceives you.
5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and they will deceive many.
6 You are going to hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, because these things must take place, but the end is not yet.
7 For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.
8 All these events are the beginning of birth pains.
9 “Then they will hand you over for persecution, and they will kill you. You will be hated by all nations because of My name.
10 Then many will take offense, betray one another and hate one another. 11 Many false prophets will rise up and deceive many.
12 Because lawlessness will multiply, the love of many will grow cold.
13 But the one who endures to the end will be delivered.
14 This good news of the kingdom will be proclaimed in all the world as a testimony to all nations. And then the end will come.

  7. Post Comment Notes*** I took down 2 of the “Israeli News Live” videos, as I discovered that someone re-posted those yesterday, but they were very old and not from the original source. Thanks for catching that Sonshine 🙂
Many people out there are trying to produce “Fake News” by changing headlines and re-posting old things, making them appear to be new.

    1. She mentions prayer needed for more discernment. I know so many that were once “awake” are now caught up in distractions and have compromised their faith. We have many that are stating “peace and safety” and others are now more concerned about their plans and personal desires. Pray that we seek the Lords plans and we don’t let our own desires get in the way of his will.

      1. Hebrews 6:4-6
4 For it is impossible to renew to repentance those who were once enlightened, who tasted the heavenly gift, became companions with the Holy Spirit,
5 tasted God’s good word and the powers of the coming age,
6 and who have fallen away, because, to their own harm, they are recrucifying the Son of God and holding Him up to contempt.

        Ephesians 4:29-32
29 No foul language is to come from your mouth, but only what is good for building up someone in need, so that it gives grace to those who hear. 30 And don’t grieve God’s Holy Spirit. You were sealed by Him for the day of redemption. 31 All bitterness, anger and wrath, shouting and slander must be removed from you, along with all malice. 32 And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.

    2. “Test the spirits. Does their word line up with My Word?”

Yes, that’s it! I just had an email exchange with a prophetic personality who has put out some good insights in the past. Lately he keeps putting out videos about how Satan and the fallen angels created mankind in their image, instead of God. I explained why this does not line up with the Scriptures and that he is giving glory to Satan – glory which belongs to God alone. (I sensed the Spirit prompt me to reach out.)

He responded and said that my “studying” of the Scriptures is “superfluous” compared to his spiritual gifts that gives him direct “revelation.” Well, there it is. At least he was honest enough to say it.

Thinking oneself above accountability to God’s word is a dangerous place to be. If it doesn’t line up with the Scriptures, it ain’t from God.

      1. That’s how it is Mike. Pride goes before the fall, we have to be levelheaded and know where we stand. It’s good you are taking a stand Mike, you wont be popular there. But the Lord sees and knows all, In Jeremiah false prophets who prophesied from their human heart were heavily castigated!

      2. Mike, many people are going down this path or their own path away from the Lord — some were very strong in faith in the past. Prayers needed for all of them too.

I’ve seen a lot of “prophets” recently post they know when the Lord is coming back!!!!! It only takes a look back in Matthew 24 to see that nobody knows when he is returning, not even Jesus himself.

I found this post that gives a little history of Lucifer. We know he thought highly of himself (Pride), where once he had a great position in the Kingdom of heaven. Pride got in the way of the truth and the story continues.

Here’s a few posts that come to mind, that could be related to the topic (straying off the narrow path, false teachers and demonic inspired doctrine):

  8. Scripture Verse Of The Day from Bible Gateway — 1/9/17

“Don’t collect for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. But collect for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves don’t break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Romans 12:17, 18

A few years ago I was leading a group from my home church in Canada on a mission trip to Cuba. The church in Cuba had experienced a significant revival movement and the fast-growing house church movement was overflowing with new believers.

In Havana we visited the Baptist Seminary and were delighted to have some time with its then elderly president, Dr. Vegilla. He spoke perfect English and shared with us how he had spent five years in Castro’s prison system in the 1960’s just because he was a Christian pastor. He further itemized the pressures the church had experienced at the hand of the regime over the past five decades. Then he smiled and in his very positive style of expression concluded, “But we have learned three things through all of this. We learned not to fear, not to hate and not to harm!”

I have meditated on this statement for some time and concluded that it expresses very succinctly the biblical essence of standing strong through any storm. And although his three point outline is stated negatively, there are very positive aspects of each:

    · learning “not to fear” infers a development of boldness and courage

    · learning “not to hate” implies a focus on love, forgiveness and grace

    · learning “not to harm” indicates a commitment to the biblical principles of non-violence and aggressive love

Dr. Vegilla summed it up perfectly and as you continue to read these devotionals, you will see dozens of specific applications for all aspect of discipleship in following our Lord Jesus.

RESPONSE: Today I want to live in boldness, love and non-violence. I am committed not to fear, not to hate, and not to harm anyone.

PRAYER: Lord, this kind of living is counter-culture. I need Your strength and power to live this way. Help me—as well as Your persecuted church—to keep this as my focus.
