They perish because they did not accept the love of the truth in order to be saved

2 Thessalonians 2

The Man of Lawlessness
Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to Him: We ask you, brothers,

2 not to be easily upset in mind or troubled, either by a spirit or by a message or by a letter as if from us, alleging that the Day of the Lord has come.

3 Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way. For that day will not come unless the apostasy comes first and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction.

4 He opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he sits in God’s sanctuary, publicizing that he himself is God.

5 Don’t you remember that when I was still with you I told you about this?

6 And you know what currently restrains him, so that he will be revealed in his time.

7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work, but the one now restraining will do so until he is out of the way,

8 and then the lawless one will be revealed. The Lord Jesus will destroy him with the breath of His mouth and will bring him to nothing with the brightness of His coming.

9 The coming of the lawless one is based on Satan’s working, with all kinds of false miracles, signs, and wonders,

10 and with every unrighteous deception among those who are perishing. They perish because they did not accept the love of the truth in order to be saved.

11 For this reason God sends them a strong delusion so that they will believe what is false,

12 so that all will be condemned—those who did not believe the truth but enjoyed unrighteousness.

Stand Firm
13 But we must always thank God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because from the beginning God has chosen you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and through belief in the truth.

14 He called you to this through our gospel, so that you might obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

15 Therefore, brothers, stand firm and hold to the traditions you were taught, either by our message or by our letter.

16 May our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us eternal encouragement and good hope by grace,

17 encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good work and word.

Hosea 4:6

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.
Because you have rejected knowledge,
I will reject you from serving as My priest.
Since you have forgotten the law of your God,
I will also forget your sons.

Matthew 10:21-21

21 “Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child. Children will even rise up against their parents and have them put to death. 22 You will be hated by everyone because of My name. But the one who endures to the end will be delivered.

Mark 13:11-13

11 So when they arrest you and hand you over, don’t worry beforehand what you will say. On the contrary, whatever is given to you in that hour—say it. For it isn’t you speaking, but the Holy Spirit.

12 Then brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child. Children will rise up against parents and put them to death.

13 And you will be hated by everyone because of My name. But the one who endures to the end will be delivered.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

The Mystery of Time
There is an occasion for everything,
and a time for every activity under heaven:
2 a time to give birth and a time to die;
a time to plant and a time to uproot;
3 a time to kill and a time to heal;
a time to tear down and a time to build;
4 a time to weep and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn and a time to dance;
5 a time to throw stones and a time to gather stones;
a time to embrace and a time to avoid embracing;
6 a time to search and a time to count as lost;
a time to keep and a time to throw away;
7 a time to tear and a time to sew;
a time to be silent and a time to speak;
8 a time to love and a time to hate;
a time for war and a time for peace.

  1. Great selection of verses. Delusion is strong and brothers are already turning against brothers. We all have to stay close to the Lord and his Spirit of truth to see through the fogs of deception. God bless!

    1. Amen to that Mike! We are studying all this now and just this morning, I shared some of these scriptures with a loved one. God is opening eyes, I could see that the person “heard!” I’ll have to share these all, the ones together you posted, later again after Bible Study tonight.

      As we see so many falling away, there are some waking up to what is going on. Another area and I give the Lord all praise on this also, is the Bride is hearing the same thing all over and in much less time than it used to be!
      Heads up, He’s preparing in fast forward mode. 🙂

      Not sure if this it the place to put this, but I don’t mind it being public. It may sound a silly prayer request, BUT the Lord has had me praying for our neighbors a very long time. We have one that is down the highway a bit who has an old dog that keeps getting out. Normally I put her in the back yard and have to keep mine in the house until the CALL and pick her up. This time UHG!!! I don’t know what is going on, I do know I need to pray and possibly call them to ask if there’s some offense we are unaware of?

      We know them well enough I had to look at the dog tag to get their names again. Hope that helps with this……yesterday the dog showed up again. She was trying to get into my poultry netting and no choice but to put her back in the yard again. I left several messages, they have 3 phone numbers on her collar. No one called. About 6 hours went by, hubby got home after dark and he stopped outside to look at her tag and call them. They guy answered. I heard hubby say “there’s a lot of traffic tonight, are you sure” and then “ok but I don’t like this” as he opened the back gate to let her out.

      We were both very upset. #1 worried about the dog, she did not go home she chewed up my poultry netting and let the chickens get out in the morning. This is on my camera! #2, why so rude they didn’t even call!?!?!?!?
      Praying and asking Him how to handle this. Things have been tense here lately. We don’t get too involved with the community, too much “patriotism” in overdrive etc if you get my drift………We have trucks going by with jakes on a 55 MPH highway UNLOADED and on purpose. At a loss here and yet I know He will make a way to love them vs being upset and wondering what is going on……..

      1. Sonshine, thanks for sharing that with us. For me, I believe some things happen so we can ask the Lord for more patience. It doesn’t make it easy, but it helps us rely upon him for everything. I’ve asked for prayers in this area for myself many times, as situations happen that are hard for me to overlook.

        We’ll pray for peace over all this and for anyone else out there dealing with anything that’s testing their patience.

        I sometimes listen to others, but know I have to be silent on many issues and let the Lord’s will be done. I pray for correct handling and guidance on things that come my way.

        Even when people are making fun of us, spreading lies and gossip about us — sometimes we just have to stop what we are doing and take it all to the Lord in prayer.

        On a side note ***
        It is very difficult to handle some things when they come from our own family members; we have to show the Characteristics of Christ even when it’s not easy.

      2. Well Sonshine while the poultry netting is down look positively on things! You can catch the chickens and make lots of chicken casserole for storage 🙂

        Hope the doggy thing resolves itself and the neighbor too, and offer them some casserole too as a christian gift 🙂

    1. Thanks ya’ll. Redneck coming through. Stig did you mean the chickens stew or the dog? I’m just kidding. I’m so soft hearted. This poor old girl had nails so long they were curling under and a huge growth on her chest:( I love dogs and it’s hard seeing someone not care for them.
      Rejection hit big time and I should be used to that here by now. BUT I have been praying for them and will continue.

      What really got me is the love your neighbors as yourselves part Ha! What a test that has been. I do get it though and the Lord is changing my heart. I think everyone is on edge, especially those who know the Lord but think this is a time to join forces vs follow Jesus through till the end. Self defense, yes, joining with groups ready for war..NO

      My family already thinks I’m bonkers but the tin foil hat has been somewhat removed due to wikileaks LOL. God can use anything 🙂

  2. WOW! What a timely lesson. Goes with the scriptures at the top of this post!

    1. Some notes:

      She makes the clear distinction between fasting an abstaining from something.
      She also says eating anything during fasting is not fasting, but mentions liquids are ok.

      She said that the “Daniel Fast” is not what she is referring to.

      Daniel 1:11-16

      11 So Daniel said to the guard whom the chief official had assigned to Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, 12 “Please test your servants for 10 days. Let us be given vegetables to eat and water to drink. 13 Then examine our appearance and the appearance of the young men who are eating the king’s food, and deal with your servants based on what you see.” 14 He agreed with them about this and tested them for 10 days. 15 At the end of 10 days they looked better and healthier than all the young men who were eating the king’s food. 16 So the guard continued to remove their food and the wine they were to drink and gave them vegetables.

      10-31-16 Urgent instruction from God to put this out immediately. I find it AMAZING that as I recorded and began to post, I noticed the number in my list of recordings. I keep a running list as I post recordings – the next number on the list to give this recording was #40. I froze when I saw it, realizing as I was being obedient to God that the number to this recording is # 40 – and it is a call for the Christians of the WORLD to UNITE and FAST….TOGETHER.
      God, you are so incredibly perfect in all that you do.

      1)TRUTH: Pray for the truth to be exposed – deceptions of the world exposed, deceptions to your family and to yourself as a Christian. CLEAN YOUR HOUSE AND CLEAN YOUR MIND.
      2) WHO TO VOTE FOR: Pray for discernment of who to vote for in the US election and elections for where you live.
      3) WISDOM/DISCERNMENT: Pray specifically for wisdom and discernment as you prepare for the hard times coming and for the persecution against Christians that is coming.
      4) FAMILY: Pray for your family to be saved and included in the blessings that you seek of protections and provisions.
      5) UNITY: Pray for Christians to unify…not on paper but for the first time in centuries for Christians to be of one mind and one spirit.

      This is number 40 of my recordings and by far is the most important and by far can accomplish the most.

      Please comment below your location/country and how many in your family are joining this world fast of Christians.

      1. Seek the Lord on participation on this fasting request. Some people may not be able to do this, due to health reasons (Strong medications, Diabetics, People with hypoglycemia, etc.) — Maybe the Lord will show you something you can do instead.

    (However, I would strongly recommend to watch the entire video.)

    They are one or a combination of the following.
    1.) obama says “In order to be fair, I will delay the election.”
    2.) Any disruption regarding the election
    3.) Huge uprising/civil war around the time of the election

    And because of my chains, most of the brothers and sisters have become confident in the Lord and dare all the more to proclaim the gospel without fear. Philippians 1:14

    The Apostle Paul indicates that another reason why the gospel was actually advancing during his imprisonment was the bold courageous witness of other believers who had lost their fear.

    Two Chinese itinerant evangelists who carried Christian books with them were arrested in Anhui Province during their ministry. The Public Security Bureau (PSB) put them in jail and beat them. The guard beat the face of one until it bled and then took his shoes away in the cold of winter. Then they poured cold water on him throughout the winter. He became deformed from the harsh treatment. Both were kept in jail for six months.

    They had led two people to the Lord in that prison location before they were arrested, and when they were released from jail after six months, there were over one hundred new Christians in the area from the seeds that these men had planted. The two people that they led to the Lord spread the message to others. The work grew even while the itinerant evangelists were in prison.

    In Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, fourteen Christians continued their witness while in prison by reading scripture aloud. By the time they were released, they had read through the entire New Testament and forty-four inmates professed faith in Jesus Christ.

    Pedro Pablo Castillo shares a similar situation in Nicaragua where half of the four thousand political prisoners became Christians. On the eve of their release, they prayed, sang and read scripture to celebrate their pardon. Castillo returned to the jail to urge them to let Christ shine in their lives whether in jail or outside.

    We shared earlier about Pastor Tu in Vietnam—leader of the fastest growing house church network. Pastor Tu spent three years in prison for his evangelistic ministry. When he was released, he found his house church network had grown three hundred per cent during his imprisonment years.

    I received a Christmas card from him the following year that read: “…God greatly gives our church 20,203 more new believers this year. Hallelujah!”

    RESPONSE: God’s kingdom will advance when I overcome my fear and become a bold and courageous witness to the power of the gospel.

    PRAYER: Lord, help me to trust You fully and become a dynamic force in boldly advancing the growth of Your church.

    1. Love the wings of prophecy post and the one from Kim for info. I’ve never heard her before. Unable to do that type of fast so will keep on praying and pressing in with those who are praying also. Holy Spirit has always been faithful to show what to fast and how long etc. Obviously not fasting anything yet, just saw this

    1 Thessalonians 5:3
    3 When they say, “Peace and security,” then sudden destruction comes on them, like labor pains come on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.

    Proverbs 19:29 Judgments are prepared for mockers, and beatings for the backs of fools.

  6. TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 2016 (through ALI WINTERS awatchmanonthewall)

    Today is Tuesday, 1 November, 2016. On 17 October, 2016 I received the following word. Reluctant to post this word I ask for scriptural confirmation; Holy Spirit spoke: “Jeremiah 6:19”

    ‘…Hear, O earth; behold, I am bringing disaster upon this people, the fruit of their devices, because they have not paid attention to my words; and as for my law, they have rejected it.’

    “Retribution for sin; pain, suffering, loss. Nineteen days to prepare. Seek My power. Nineteen days, I have told you nineteen days. Many have heard and prepare. Many have ignored and will be stunned.

    Beneath the shadow of the cross there is peace. Look no further. Do not seek peace in any other for none will or can bring peace, the peace that passes all understanding.”

    ‘…do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.’ Philippians 4:6-7

    “Soon comes a great shift to America. Soon there will be riots and death. Fire, fire comes to your land. The crimes of greedy man has left this nation a shell of its former self. Her glory gone… she struggles to remain upright. Few care enough to take a stand for truth. What soon comes upon this nation is the result of neglect and willful disobedience. The heart of this nation is dark, blackened by the sins of evil men who long ago sold their souls to the highest bidder.

    A great shaking is coming. Many have spoken this, but many refuse to listen. Many will not understand, but stand in faith. Don’t question, do not fear. Sinful man; on a collision course with Almighty God.

    The course has been determined, all is in readiness yet still man continues to believe man will repair the breaches, repair the damage and life will continue as before. The goodness and righteousness of God demands it be otherwise. Mankind has rebelled and denied My Son time and time again and now the ax is at the root of the turmoil and must do its work if man is to be saved.

    You do not always understand, for My ways are higher than your ways, but trust and stand in faith. You have much to gain as you walk in faith but far more to loose if you don’t.”

    1. Ali’s post sounds like it is from the Lord. On this end, we keep getting confirmations from the Lord that something serious is about to happen. A word we received recently was “crush,” as in to apply pressure and squeeze out juice. The coming judgments are not just national punishments, but are intended to squeeze out the juice of repentance and faith. Finally!

      By the way, it doesn’t matter who is elected. This train is coming off the rails no matter what.

  7. I don’t know if you people noticed but on Steve Quayle’s site was a link yesterday that said if Trump is sworn in as president. The exact day that happens he will be 70 years 7 months and 7 days old!

    Go figure that, but its more than coincidence! That much i learned through life that things that happen rarely are coincidences! The bible states that our life is a predetermined path in length, only the outcome of it varies depending on our acceptance of salvation or not!

  8. Daily Devotional — 11/2/16

    And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. 1 Peter 5:10

    Christians in northern Nigeria have suffered severely from physical attacks resulting in destruction of Christian churches, houses and shops. Hundreds of believers have been badly injured, many macheted to death, some burnt alive and even more shot dead.

    Despite all that has happened in northern Nigeria, the Body of Christ is not discouraged, declaring instead they are willing to continue carrying the cross. One Christian articulated their commitment: “We will be steadfast to the end.”

    Another leader declared, “They destroyed our church buildings, houses and business centers, but the good Lord is comforting us. The Christians are growing in strength and total submission to God. Our challenge now is how to rebuild our churches and continue with the fellowship to encourage each other.”

    The affected families of pastors and church members have gone through unimaginable hardship after all they laboured for, all their lives, was destroyed within minutes. Many families were left unattended while some were able to move to refugee camps. Others are living under trees with their children, gazing at their destroyed houses and life belongings, shedding tears and calling for help in this desperate situation.

    A lady who was crying inconsolably told Open Doors, “I have nowhere to go. All I have laboured for is gone, I cannot afford to feed my children, and life is difficult. I almost gave up, but I will continue to wait on God to come to my rescue.”

    “It is difficult to fathom the scale of destruction, but we have accepted it in good faith,” said one pastor’s wife who had lost her home. “It is nothing short of the fulfilment of the Gospel. We love these Muslims even though they hate us. They are not our enemies. We are only against the person behind their actions. We so much pray that they change their ways and accept Christ, so that we will rejoice together when we get to heaven.”

    The believers in the affected areas are now confronted with the challenge of how to rebuild their churches and lives, while facing the call of sharing love and total forgiveness.

    A pastor who lost his church building commented, “We are always ready to pay the price for our faith. This added strength to our faith, no going back. We are going to encourage our people to see this from God’s perspective. We want the world to know that what has happened in northern Nigeria…is even beyond politics. It is purely religious, and we need your prayers.

    “Christ was rejected here on earth to the point that they crucified him on the cross for our sins; therefore, no amount of sacrifice for Christ would be too much. All we can do now is pray for the aggressors, because they do not know what they are doing. We will be steadfast to the end.”

    RESPONSE: Today I will receive God’s restorative help in being strong, firm and steadfast.

    PRAYER: Pray for brothers and sisters in northern Nigeria facing constant challenges to their faith.

  9. I have a question for my esteemed brothers&sisters?

    The popular dogma in the modern church is that the church is the bride of Christ! But revelation and John and other passages in 2 Corinthians imply other!

    An example for we love biblical knowledge here as the blog states.

    Revelation 21:9-10

    9. One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.” 10. And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.

    It says here that the bride of Christ is the heavenly Jerusalem! Me dumb as a finnish as i am is thinking here as a man that back in the old days in Jerusalem worship was conducted in the temple and it was the centerpiece of worship in Israel!

    As a life grows within a woman’s body does not spiritual life also grow within a temple? Atm we inhabit our tabernacle ie our body where the Holy Spirit dwells, later God himself will be present in the heavenly Jerusalem and will be consecrated by his presence! Hence we will live there present with the Lord and grow in the presence of the Lord within the confines of the Heavenly Jerusalem.

    Within the bride as revelation says and hence will grow to full term as a child within a woman’s body though in a spiritual sense more than fleshly!

    I think that many times old dogma supersedes biblical reality. And here is an example!

    Thoughts anyone?

    1. Stig,
      I personally always viewed what people call “The Bride” today as “Christianese” for everyone who is ready and has their name written in the book of life. I think it would be more accurate to reference people as “God’s Sealed” or something like that??? The Bible references people with “The Seal Of God”.

      I’m not a Bible Scholar — just sharing some thoughts. Here’s a good article that goes over Scriptural References to “The Seal Of God”

      I agree that the Bible refers to the New Jerusalem coming down from heaven as “prepared like a bride” and it appears to reference that this will be a new dwelling place, (A Holy City) for all that have truly repented of everything, accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their savior, prepared themselves “As a Bride Prepares for a Bridegroom” and much more.

      Revelation 21:2 I also saw the Holy City, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared like a bride adorned for her husband.

      Revelation 21:9 [ The New Jerusalem ] Then one of the seven angels, who had held the seven bowls filled with the seven last plagues, came and spoke with me: “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.”

      Revelation 22:17 Both the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” Anyone who hears should say, “Come!” And the one who is thirsty should come. Whoever desires should take the living water as a gift.

      1. Yesterday, I heard someone say that calling the New Jerusalem to the Bride is similar to calling a limo carrying the Bride “the Bride.”

        It’s like if someone points to the limo carrying the Bride and says to those around them, “There’s the Bride.”

        (This is from Rebecca Sterling.)

      2. Nobody can refute scripture. Anyone can add too or take away from it, but that’s what is called “Twisting The Scripture”. The important thing to remember is that we all need to be ready.

        Removing Christianese is very hard for some people.
        It’s also difficult removing ingrained false Church Doctrine from others.

      3. I would also like to point out the excellent “Bridal Series” completed by Peggy & Linda. That series told me the importance of being ready for stepping into eternity and being clean before the Lord. Any of us can have our physical life ended at any time.

  10. Here’s some scripture about being prepared & some people may be referencing this as the “Bride”??

    Matthew 25

    The Parable of the 10 Virgins
    25 “Then the kingdom of heaven will be like 10 virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the groom. 2 Five of them were foolish and five were sensible. 3 When the foolish took their lamps, they didn’t take olive oil with them. 4 But the sensible ones took oil in their flasks with their lamps. 5 Since the groom was delayed, they all became drowsy and fell asleep.

    6 “In the middle of the night there was a shout: ‘Here’s the groom! Come out to meet him.’

    7 “Then all those virgins got up and trimmed their lamps. 8 But the foolish ones said to the sensible ones, ‘Give us some of your oil, because our lamps are going out.’

    9 “The sensible ones answered, ‘No, there won’t be enough for us and for you. Go instead to those who sell, and buy oil for yourselves.’

    10 “When they had gone to buy some, the groom arrived. Then those who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet, and the door was shut.

    11 “Later the rest of the virgins also came and said, ‘Master, master, open up for us!’

    12 “But he replied, ‘I assure you: I do not know you!’

    13 “Therefore be alert, because you don’t know either the day or the hour.

    1. I’m not sure that Rebecca was twisting Scripture. She’s exceedingly close to the Lord and had quite a download about the coming tribulation down to minute details back in September of 1999. What I’ve heard about her life is very impressive in all ways. I’m not sure if her statement was an interpretation from the Lord or exactly what. Stig asked for thoughts and I just simply shared what I heard last evening. It seemed like a coincidence, hearing that last night and Stig’s question today. Nothing more nothing less.

      1. No accusations here. My point is that people use Christianese too often to describe something that is not in Scripture. I was addressing the use of “Bride” and providing scripture to back that up along with New Jerusalem.

        The main focus for all of us is to be ready at all times and not focus on what terms people are using.

        We also need to ask the Lord for more Clarity, Discernment and Wisdom — many things are trying to distract us right now and we need to make sure that we are not bringing any confusion to those that are “still on the fence”.

    “And they said to the mountains and to the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of the One seated on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb..” Revelation 6:16

    “I have come that ye might have life, but you choose death and so death it will be. Did I not warn Adam that should he partake of the fruit of the tree (Tree of knowledge of Good and Evil) he would die, and indeed he died and so all mankind after him.

    Gladly you partake of the forbidden fruit; adultery, pornography, murder, sodomy… The list is endless. You paint and puff the outside, but inwardly you are filled with dead mens bones. Repent, I say, repent. Return to the God who loves you, but you say ‘NO, we will not repent for we find the worlds ways pleasant to taste and to partake gives us great pleasure, No, we will neither repent nor return. Away with you watchmen, prophets, silence your tongues. Your words have become annoying to us. Away with you’.

    Such evil lurks in the heart of man. Evil knows no bounds. The wickedness of man, the corruption is spreading like a cancer across one nation then another. None will escape the soon coming judgement. Your lifestyles have become an abomination to Me. Your choice of evil rather than good has created a breeding ground for all types of unimagined evil.

    America…Do not expect the upcoming election to cleanse what has been festering for decades. Your political system is corrupt, run by unprincipled, corrupt men and women whose greed and thirst for power drives them. I will not come to your aid against evil, evil will prevail, this is your destiny.

    Get your spiritual house in order, stop looking out, pointing a finger at others. Look inward, not outward. Not many quiet days remain for your nations. Quickly I will send the sword and the shame of your nations will be severely dealt with.

    “Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me.” Matthew 10:38

    In northern Nigeria, confessing Christ by word of mouth is not the only test of a believer’s sincere submission to the authority of Christ—particularly one coming to Christ from Islam. A true follower of Jesus must be prepared to carry the cross, or else he falls away.

    For 25-year-old Akin, his cross came quickly. His father and uncle took him from the home of one Islamic scholar to another, trying to convince him to compromise his faith in Christ. But all their efforts proved fruitless. Finally, as a last resort, Akin’s family took him to an Islamic reformatory where he must either accept Islam, or die.

    “There, I lived with thieves, murderers, alcoholics and drug addicts whose parents or relatives had brought them there to be rehabilitated. I did not belong there…Immediately, they had my hands and feet chained. The chains fastened on my legs were worse, as they joined the metals directly on my legs. They also beat me consistently. The experience was agonizing, but I had to endure, because I had seen the light in Christ and accepted it,” said Akin.

    “They maltreated us, but mine was more severe because the Islamic teacher told them I had blasphemed against the prophet of Islam,” said Akin. “I wore the same shirt and trousers for nine months. I could not even wash them since I was chained, hands and feet.”

    After nine months in chains and under the cruel treatment of outcasts and the Islamic teacher, the Islamic teacher took Akin back to his father’s house in the village. “My father was very upset and asked the Islamic teacher to take me back, since I had not recanted my faith in Christ,” Akin said. But the teacher refused. “He handed me over to my father and left.”

    Because staying with his parents would mean his death, he immediately fled to a pastor’s house for refuge. Akin stayed indoors for two weeks until the church relocated him to a more secure environment. Akin was discipled over the next two years, and then called into ministry.

    Now in a Bible school, Akin still cannot go back home. The church in his village is small, with almost no means to support him. His Christian mentor is the only source of help for his school fees, books and provision of food.

    “For me the battle continues, although I know it is Christ who rescued me,” says Akin. “This is a constant reminder that Christ actually gave up his life for me…So my experience in that [Islamic reformatory] was just a part of the road that leads to eternity with Christ. He has told us the journey will not be easy, but we must press on, no turning back.”

    RESPONSE: Today I will persevere in following Jesus no matter what obstacles I face. I will not turn back!

    PRAYER: Thank You, Lord, for the example of believers like Akin whose example imitates Yours in teaching me to follow after You, no matter the cost.
