Sing Praises To The Lord

2 Chronicles 29:30

Then King Hezekiah and the officials told the Levites to sing praise to the Lord in the words of David and of Asaph the seer. So they sang praises with rejoicing and bowed down and worshiped.

Psalm 57:7 My heart is confident, God, my heart is confident. I will sing; I will sing praises.

Psalm 59:17 To You, my strength, I sing praises, because God is my stronghold— my faithful God.

Psalm 68:4 Sing to God! Sing praises to His name. Exalt Him who rides on the clouds — His name is Yahweh—and rejoice before Him.

Psalm 108

1 My heart is confident, God; I will sing; I will sing praises
with the whole of my being.
2 Wake up, harp and lyre! I will wake up the dawn.
3 I will praise You, Lord, among the peoples;
I will sing praises to You among the nations.
4 For Your faithful love is higher than the heavens,
and Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.
5 God, be exalted above the heavens, and let Your glory be over the whole earth.
6 Save with Your right hand and answer me so that those You love may be rescued.
7 God has spoken in His sanctuary: “I will triumph!
I will divide up Shechem. I will apportion the Valley of Succoth.
8 Gilead is Mine, Manasseh is Mine, and Ephraim is My helmet;
Judah is My scepter.
9 Moab is My washbasin; I throw My sandal on Edom.
I shout in triumph over Philistia.”
10 Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom?
11 God, haven’t You rejected us? God, You do not march out with our armies.
12 Give us aid against the foe, for human help is worthless.
13 With God we will perform valiantly; He will trample our foes.

1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of the One who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you. Matthew 5:42

The second part of the Great Commandment (Luke 10:27) is “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Jesus then tells the story of the Good Samaritan. In this story Jesus defines our neighbor as anyone in need of help. This kind of love is very practical.

It was the middle of winter and the elderly Christian in prison had a badly infected ear. He thanked God that he had been able to keep his fur hat affording him some protection from the biting cold. At least he had a pillow at night.

One day one of his cellmates asked him for his fur hat. The Christian had been willing to share food with his cellmates, but felt he could not give up his hat. After all, he had an infected ear. He needed that hat.

Through the night he wrestled with his conscience. He was haunted by this scripture: “Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you” (Matthew 5:42).

After a night of prayer, he sought forgiveness before God and was ready to hand over his hat. In the morning he learned that during the night the guards had taken the cellmate to another prison with a more severe climate.

That same morning, the guards held a routine check of the cell and among the personal objects confiscated was the believer’s fur hat.

He had tried to keep something that he was about to lose and God wanted to see the hat used for continued good with the other prisoner. Many years later, this believer remembered that lesson in Christian maturity which the Holy Spirit taught him.

RESPONSE: Today I will live in the realization that people are more important than things.

PRAYER: Help me, Lord, to not be tied down by my possessions but be open to sharing what You have given me with others in need.

  2. Beautiful James, Love the music too!

It grabs the heart and soothes my soul. I have always, even as a little girl been moved by the words and music of songs we sing to worship the Lord. It’s an expression of our love and a way to honor Him. I know He loves when we sing His praises.

Daily Devotional is an amazing reminder that what we have (stuff) is not ours and it isn’t by our hands that we have what we have. It’s stuff, its really nothing so why do we hold onto it or in this case share it with another…even when we think we need it for ourselves.

    Thank you for this reminder…

  3. Even if I don’t sing if I could I would sing to the Lord! He is worth our songs! And jc all your posts honoring the Lord Jesus will earn a song or two by an angelic choir in heaven one day.

And the falsetto and monotone in that choir will be mine 😬

  4. My Timing — Sep 16, 2016 03:00 am | Glynda Lomax

“Pay attention to My timing. My timing is everything. My timing always has the purposes of My Kingdom and your purposes combined.

If you will look into the mystery of My timing, you can understand all things. Look at My timing in your life. You shall find many answers therein.

What did I cut off? What did I allow? What did I prohibit with My timing? Look closely, children, for many hidden treasures can be found if you look at My timing.”

Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

    Proverbs 3:5-6
5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Habakkuk 2:3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.

It is along the lines of a Jason A. video.
This will convince you that we ARE living in the last days.

“Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.” Matthew 5:10-11

Jesus assures his followers there is blessing in suffering for what is right. This blessing may take the form of inner peace and joy. This is the meaning of the word translated “blessed” or “happy” in Jesus’ teaching called the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:1-12).

The New Testament writer, James, indicates that pressures are blessings in disguise and should be responded to with joyfulness (James 1:2-3). The MESSAGE paraphrase translates the verses this way: “Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors.”

Helen Berhane was severely persecuted in Eritrea’s prison system because she would not deny her faith. No matter what they did, she refused to give in. She explains:

I told the chief, “I cannot abandon my faith. If you puncture a sack of grain, the only thing that pours out is the type of grain that was in the sack. It is the same with me. I can only say what is inside me; everything that is in my heart must come out of my mouth…The more you punish me, the stronger I will be. If you keep hammering on a nail’s head it just becomes harder to pull out of the wall…”

I could not understand how they expected me to stop believing; it was impossible for me. In fact, the guards were making their own situation worse, because people began to ask what was so special about this religion that Christians refused to give it up, and they also believed. Our suffering became a glory for our faith…I am convinced that the number of Christians has doubled or tripled since they closed the churches. So perhaps God is using this terrible situation for his glory.[1]

RESPONSE: Today I will stand for what is right because I know Jesus will be glorified and I will receive a blessing.

PRAYER: Ask God to give strength and courage to those around the world being pressured to deny their faith today.

“What has been will be quickly wasted as judgments fall. You will begin to see more that you will question. Do not seek answers from the world; a world consumed by sin, one that will perish under its weight.

Lights of truth are dimming. Voices once trusted can be trusted no longer. You must not rely on outsiders to share truth. Only through prayer and My Word will you begin to see and understand what must needs be upon this nation, on all nations whose hearts yearn for the things of the world.

Darkness, darkness surrounds. Be not dismayed, trust and believe in My goodness. In coming weeks you will have many opportunities to trust Me as change comes quickly. The brokenness, the sin will soon rise to consume all not rooted and grounded in Me.

Proclaim the glory of the LORD. Through much persecution let your light shine to the glory of your God. Great blessings for those who run the race with endurance, great remorse for those who quit before their race is finished. You have much to gain and very little of worth to loose as you take up your cross and follow Me.

Children of the flock, your Shepherd watches closely His little ones. Rest in My peace. Though storms come and winds blow, rest in My peace. Great blessings await the redeemed of the LORD.

Behold, I come quickly. Pray that your faith will not faultier in the days ahead. Pray for revelation knowledge, pray to be sheltered in My ever powerful love.

    Pray church – pray.”

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
Psalm 103:13-14 Just as a father has compassion on his children, So the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him. For He Himself knows our frame; He is mindful that we are but dust.
Romans 8:35 Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?”
James 1:5-8 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

    1. Notice in the words through ALI WINTERS above (awatchmanonthewall),
it is stated “in the coming WEEKS.”
Problems are getting closer. Now stated in terms of WEEKS, not months, or a year.

“In coming weeks you will have many opportunities to trust Me as change comes quickly.”
