The Medicine Show

Some refer to the false salesmen people of yesterday as “Snake Oil Salesmen”.   We have to be careful today and not fall for all people claiming to be Christian and having the gift of Prophecy or those sharing “truthful news”.   Look for the Characteristics of Christ and the Fruit of the Holy Spirit.

Galatians 5:22-26

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith,      23 gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, we must also follow the Spirit.  26 We must not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

Isaiah 40:31

but those who trust in the Lord will renew their strength;
they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary;
they will walk and not faint.

My patience has been tried so much lately, I often want to scream!  So many people are in a chaotic panic mode, that they don’t wait on the Lord before professing something to be from him. There are many who are stating something is from the Lord, but are giving out messages that are often the opposite of prior “words” given to themselves or others.

Psalm 27:14  Wait for the Lord; be strong and courageous. Wait for the Lord.

Sometimes we just need to wait on the Lord and be quiet!   Messages need to be confirmed.  Some messages may simply be for that person, a specific audience or a specific time.  There are others who are putting stories out claiming that they are true, just for the purpose of making Christians look ridiculous.

Most people today no longer believe in Prophetic messages, because of False Prophets or from those with the gift of prophecy that refuse to wait on the Lord for confirmation.  It’s much like the old story of “The Boy Who Cried Wolf”, when you issue a statement of fact, but have not received confirmation on it.

We need to take everything to the Lord in prayer.   A persons heart might be in the right place with the Lord, but their mind may be in a place of chaos.  There are some that may truly be suffering from mental illness and are in need of deliverance.

We need to keep all fellow believers in prayer, and not exclude anyone because they have strayed from the Word of God.   Any of us can allow our emotions to get in the way of the truth.

Consider a review of the following prior posts about being patient, humble, non-judgmental and to remove pride from our lives:

  1. Its more like tragic nowadays how people trust medicine and psychology and medicine before faith. Its a symptom of modernity that we trust exterior sources before homegrown interor. Medicine vs faith

Faith has a proven trackrecord and medicine also! The difference is medicine is used for power and bad things, true faith biblically pure is uncontaminated. It cannot fail. Only our trust in flesh fails…….i pray dear Jesus that starting with me everyone reading this would be granted perfect faith in you.

I know i have failed a multitude of times but you are always the forgiver. So please grant us perfect faith in you and your word.

  2. EXCELLENT post, James. It’s quite distressing to me as well to see all of this wishy-washy “prophecy” and goofy “teaching” going on right now.

The following YouTube video was sent to me to check out. The Words shared on here are TRUE Words from the LORD (but you please pray about it as well). If you start at the 1 hour, 30 min mark. . . That will get you closer to the start of the interview.

  3. This warning message speaks of Obama Lizard:

    A Watchman on the Wall
    Posted: 08 Aug 2016 12:13 AM PDT
“Man’ faults, man’ failures; have you not seen their ugliness? With patches and paint you attempt to hide what lies deep within. The camouflage with which you have hidden your sins will quickly be stripped away leaving millions exposed. Exposed, but not repentant. Evil will continue, heating to a boiling point. Quickly will come the face of evil across this nation.

Barack Obama will make a decree soon that affects believers, begin now to pray for strength. He will soon initiate great persecution against the people of America. You have but a short time to prepare for what will soon befall your nation. Great anguish of soul for the many as those things they hoped in begin to fail.

Man will not repent because man is in rebellion to God. Your face is hard, your eyes blind to The Truth. You have rejected Me and now I reject you. Oh wicked man, your reward approaches. Take what you can now for quickly comes disaster and you will not survive the hand of the Almighty.”

“Therefore prophesy against them all these words, and say to them:
‘The Lord will roar from on high,
    And utter His voice from His holy habitation;
He will roar mightily against His fold.
He will give a shout, as those who tread the grapes,
Against all the inhabitants of the earth.

A noise will come to the ends of the earth—
    For the Lord has a controversy with the nations;
He will plead His case with all flesh.
He will give those who are wicked to the sword,’ says the Lord.”
Thus says the Lord of hosts:
    “Behold, disaster shall go forth
    From nation to nation,
And a great whirlwind shall be raised up
From the farthest parts of the earth.” Jeremiah 25:30-32

  4. Daily Devotional — 08/08/2016:

In his humiliation he [Jesus] was deprived of justice. Acts 8:33a

Christians experiencing persecution are following in the footsteps of their master, Jesus. In Acts chapter eight, Philip revealed to the Ethiopian eunuch that the passage from Isaiah 53 he was reading referred to Jesus who indeed was deprived of justice. Today in the Western world, we would describe His trial before crucifixion as occurring in a “kangaroo court!”

If disinformation about any group, including Christians, is disseminated long enough, no one will help when that group or person is discriminated against. Discrimination relegates Christians to second-class citizenship with inferior legal, social, political and economic status. Once discrimination takes place, no one will intervene when the mistreatment comes.

Examples of such injustice against Christians abound around the world: ID cards in a country where Christianity is an unacceptable entry in the religion column; daughters abducted because they are Christians; expulsion from the community just because they are evangelicals.

Christians in Pakistan are a small minority among a large Muslim majority and often face such discrimination. The problem is compounded by the fact that many Christians are illiterate and poor. One Christian teacher at a center training Christian women recently said, “We do face discrimination because we live in the midst of people who don’t want us to move forward; people who keep trying to push us down so that we will always be in slavery.”

But there is one repeated scene of injustice against Christians that occurs in Pakistan which brings me to tears which involves young Christian girls. As a father of two daughters and having six granddaughters, I shudder every time I read news reports that describe Christian family injustice in this land. The stories usually work out this way:

Muslim women must marry Muslim men but Muslim men are allowed to marry any woman they wish with the proviso that any children must be raised as Muslim. Consequently in Pakistan there are Muslim men who often desire some of the very beautiful young Christian girls in the community but realize there is no way their Christian families will agree to marriage. So these men resort to abduction.

The Christian father’s only option is to go to court where the judge—usually a Muslim—hears the case and pronounces to the Christian father, “Your daughter voluntarily converted to Islam and voluntarily married this Muslim man so you are to have no more contact with her. One of the most recent cases involved two young Christian sisters aged thirteen and ten. In this case, the judge allowed the ten-year-old to return home to her family but not the thirteen-year-old.

Safwan, a secret believer in Algeria, found a Christian pamphlet between the paperwork given him at work and started reading it. Upon discovering him reading the pamphlet, his boss reported him to the police. Later that night the police visited him and searched his entire home. They found Christian CD’s, several Christian movies and a New Testament. “It was clear to them that I had become a Christian. My boss fired me.”

RESPONSE: Today I will work toward justice for everyone in my own country and around the world.

PRAYER: Lord, be with those experiencing discrimination today because they love and serve You.

    1. Thank-you for posting, J.C.
      I like to be informed.
At the very same time I am EXTREMELY saddened and appalled at the total lack of Biblical convictions on the part of many of these people.

The animal and particularly the fish die-offs are really amazing.

      Thank you for sharing James.

  5. Luke 12:35-40

35 “Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, 36 like servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him. 37 It will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when he comes. Truly I tell you, he will dress himself to serve, will have them recline at the table and will come and wait on them. 38 It will be good for those servants whose master finds them ready, even if he comes in the middle of the night or toward daybreak. 39 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into. 40 You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.”

  6. Luke 14:15-24

The Parable of the Great Banquet
15 When one of those at the table with him heard this, he said to Jesus, “Blessed is the one who will eat at the feast in the kingdom of God.”

16 Jesus replied: “A certain man was preparing a great banquet and invited many guests. 17 At the time of the banquet he sent his servant to tell those who had been invited, ‘Come, for everything is now ready.’

18 “But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said, ‘I have just bought a field, and I must go and see it. Please excuse me.’

19 “Another said, ‘I have just bought five yoke of oxen, and I’m on my way to try them out. Please excuse me.’

20 “Still another said, ‘I just got married, so I can’t come.’

21 “The servant came back and reported this to his master. Then the owner of the house became angry and ordered his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame.’

22 “‘Sir,’ the servant said, ‘what you ordered has been done, but there is still room.’

23 “Then the master told his servant, ‘Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full. 24 I tell you, not one of those who were invited will get a taste of my banquet.’”

  7. Repent
    Aug 09, 2016 05:30 am | Glynda Linkous

“Some of My children are entering a time of My judgment on your lives. My children, this will not be easy for you. There is nothing you can do to stop My judgment when it arrives, so you must humble yourselves under My Mighty Hand, that you may continue moving forward into all that I have for you.
Many of My children in these past years have refused to lay down their sin and repent. Because of this, I will now make changes in your lives you may not enjoy. Understand that I do these things for your good, My children, for I cannot leave you alone in your sin, knowing what is ahead for you if I do.
Follow the leadings of My Holy Spirit and this will go much more easily for you. Repent and turn from your sins and we can pass through this much more quickly.
I desire My people would walk in purity, set apart from the filth of the world you now live in. I desire your lives would shine the light of My Truth every place you go, but you have refused to be set apart in virtue.
The world’s acceptance cannot save you. The world’s approval cannot stop what is coming, for it is of Me.”

Proverbs 1:23 Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.
    1 Peter 1:15-17
    15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:
Matthew 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
    Acts 3:19-20
19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.
20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:
    1 Peter 4:15-19
15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters.
16 Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.
17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
19 Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.
1 Peter 5:6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

  8. Daily Devotional– 08/10/16

Then Haman said to King Xerxes, “There is a certain people dispersed among the peoples in all the provinces of your kingdom who keep themselves separate. Their customs are different from those of all other people, and they do not obey the king’s laws; it is not in the king’s best interest to tolerate them. Esther 3:8

Today we feature the first in a series from a house church pastor’s sermon in China:

The Bible is written to persecuted communities, and we must learn from each community the peculiar blessings and dangers of persecution. I would like to draw your attention to some lessons from the persecuted community in the time of Esther.

Esther was Queen of Persia sometime after 483 BC. She was a beautiful woman with a secret—no one except her adopted father knew it. It was her racial origin. She was a Jew.

There came a great persecution. In Esther 3:8, we read that the king of Persia’s advisor says he should not tolerate a certain group of people. The king agrees, and issues a decree calling for the extermination of all Jews.

The Jews are devastated, including Esther. How they got into this situation, how they get out of it, and what happened afterwards all reveal great truths about suffering churches—of which we are one.

Where does persecution come from? What is its source? The text shows us clearly. Persecution is the result of pride. Pride on the part of the persecutor.

Haman is the culprit. He is humiliated because a Jew called Mordecai refuses to bow low enough to him. We are not given the reason why Mordecai would deliver such a calculated snub, but it makes Haman see red. Instead of just trying to get rid of Mordecai, though, he has to project his personal humiliation into something grand. He won’t admit it’s all just a personal grudge, but concocts an elaborate plan to get rid of all Jews because they are in breach of the king’s laws.

His plan is a good one. The Jews are different, he says. True. They are so different, they are not good citizens, he adds. False, but the king is right to be suspicious of any group that seems to have other loyalties than just to him. It’s the same in China. Our government persecutes us because we are different. We are honest, separate, and we have greater loyalties than just to the state. That makes us an object of suspicion.

But the root of it all is pride. The cause of the persecution was simply that Haman was angry. I have read that in Russia, the terrible persecutions that were visited upon the churches there came from the fact that Lenin’s brother was shot by the Tsar’s forces, and what galled him in particular was that a Russian Orthodox priest blessed the proceedings. He carried his personal hatred with him…It’s a pride matter. It always is. The source of suffering is always found in human pride.

RESPONSE: Today I will check my pride at the door and realize that God is still in control!

PRAYER: Pray that prideful leaders will humble themselves to acknowledge the God of the universe.
