Your Fault Not Mine!

blame_game1

Something to keep in mind when we are asking for confirmation of anything we think is from the Lord.  We need to ask for discernment in all things.   We may just be listening to our own thoughts and not be influenced by the Holy Spirit or under a demonic attack.  We have free will!

lost_in_my_thoughtspray_for_wisdom

If something doesn’t go our way, maybe it’s not in the will of the Lord!  If we believe “The Lord Told Me Something” or “The Holy Spirit Said…” and we don’t have peace about it — pray for confirmation.  We could just be getting in the way of the Lord’s will.  Not having peace about something should be obvious, but we all deal with things differently.   Pray for clarity!

persuasionuh_oh1

Sometimes people try to influence an outcome in their favor and claim the Lord is telling them something.  Be very sure you are hearing from the Holy Spirit and not trying to cause something to happen because it makes sense!  We could even be trying to fulfill a need and claiming the “Holy Spirit said…”.  Sometimes our own thoughts don’t make sense.  Just take it to the Lord in prayer!

my_way_your_wayagree_to_disagree

It is not “Ok to agree to disagree!”  we must stand firm in the truth and not waiver.  We need to pray for those who have fallen away and those that are teetering on the edge of destruction!   Anyone who is sharing “A Word From The Lord” better make sure it truly is from the Lord!  Sometimes we also have to walk away from those that refuse to hear the truth.

walk_away1walk_away2

Sometimes we even have to walk away from those claiming to “hear from the Lord”, when we keep getting a “something is not right about that” feeling inside.  We do need to keep everyone in prayer, no matter how we may perceive their walk with the Lord. Ask for discernment in all things!

Teach me good judgment and discernment, for I rely on Your commands.
Proverbs 28:11
A rich man is wise in his own eyes, but a poor man who has discernment sees through him.
Isaiah 56:11
These dogs have fierce appetites; they never have enough. And they are shepherds who have no discernment; all of them turn to their own way, every last one for his own gain.

  1. Great post James!

I always want to be careful about this sort of thing though.

“Sometimes we even have to walk away from those claiming to “hear from the Lord”, when we keep getting a “something is not right about that” feeling inside. We do need to keep everyone in prayer, no matter how we may perceive their walk with the Lord. Ask for discernment in all things”!

I think we must be very careful to not fall into the trap of judging and that “something is not right about that” feeling inside” could be wrong also. Especially when we really don’t know someone and their heart.

In today’s world so many relationships have been reduced to online that how can one possibly REALLY know another person. We can’t hear someones tone online, we can’t see their face and we can’t really know their heart.

If we have a feeling something isn’t right, we should certainly pray about that and for that person but shouldn’t we also love them through it and try and correct them, not just walk away?

I have been exposed to so many different groups where judgement is rampant, spreading unchecked. This can’t be what God wants from us, nor is it what He taught.
There are so many of us out there just trying to learn and trying to discern only to be knocked backward by those who claim to be our brothers and sisters in Christ.

The best news…ONLY God truly knows our hearts, ONLY He will be the final judge.

    Blessings and peace,
    Vicki

    1. Hi Vickie,
I agree with everything that you said, yet I also agree with walking away at a certain point. The same boldness for Christ can and will be attacked by the enemy. Sometimes pride could be used as a weapon against them. You can not easily speak against it to those under that influence. Sometimes our feelings of ‘something not quite right’ could be very wrong and an influence by the enemy. We must always pray for ourselves and brothers and sisters in Christ to have a wall of fire between us and the flaming arrows. So, we can physically ‘walk’ away while praying for discernment from the Holy Spirit while aligning with Scripture.

    2. Agreeing Vicki. Awesome post JC. Seeking His voice and only His with much confirmation following lest a fall.
I had to read the image “agree to disagree” twice before the last part sank in. I can’t make you be right. Also what hits home is the saying ” the need to be right.”
(Sorry on my phone and not a writer…..)

A close relative said she struggled with this area many years ago…the Lord showed me her fear of losing control.
If it means losing intimacy with Him or deception, I don’t ever want to be right in that respect. If it means being right or wrong about any of the prophetic going on I would rather warn and be wrong than be quiet.

Today a dear friend said the main people attacking her were believers….that is scary. Many of these were awake:( She’s so precious and no fear of shouting the alarms. Perhaps times of testing and trials against deception in higher levels/intensity.

    3. Sometimes we must walk away in order to maintain our peace . . . AND in order for the other person to grow. When the peace of a relationship or connection has gone. . . It’s time to seek the LORD on what to do next about it. Right now . . . It seems it’s more likely to walk away so we can keep moving forward. Pray for them . . . But let them go.

      1. That sounds right to me, Linda.
Time is so short and we need to make sure our own “house is in order” so that we can be of maximum use to the Lord in these critical times!

  2. Persecution Comes — Jun 13, 2016 10:07 am | Glynda Linkous

My precious children, do you not see what is happening in the world around you? Darkness is beginning to descend upon the earth and those without My light will no longer see or understand truth. Those who refuse truth now will not be granted the truth later, for they are given over to the darkness. Those who know Me now will shine like the sun through this dark time, and suffer much persecution.

Woe to those who call good evil and evil good in this time, for their end is destruction. Repentance shall not be granted them for they have refused the truth and chosen the lie. They are not Mine.

Abide in Me, abide in My presence that I may protect you from all that is to come, My precious ones, for much evil comes into the world and you will be hated for My Name’s sake, but those who endure to the end shall be saved.

Prepare for persecution, My children, for it comes. The enemy is filled with wrath, for he knows he has but a short time now and he desires your soul.

Stand and refuse to be moved from your most holy faith. Stand and proclaim My Name boldly, for I Myself will defend you, and I will receive you unto Myself at the end. The enemy will pass laws against My people, but He will be unable to stop My gospel in the earth, for I have a people that is bold and courageous! A people who will refuse to be silenced. Do not fear when you see these things happen, My children, but rejoice for the end is nearer and you are coming home to Me.

    Proverbs 1:24-26
    24 Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;
25 But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:
    26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;

    Isaiah 60:1-2
1Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.
2 For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.

    Isaiah 5:19-24
19 That say, Let him make speed, and hasten his work, that we may see it: and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw nigh and come, that we may know it!
20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!
22 Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink:
23 Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!
24 Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the Lord of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.

    Matthew 24:8-10
8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.
10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

    Revelation 12:10-12
10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

    Daniel 7:25

25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

  3. Daily Devotional — 06/14/2016 — Very timely to this blog post.

    PERSISTENT PRAYER
As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD by failing to pray for you. 1 Samuel 12:23a

An important aspect of prayer is to pray patiently. God meets our needs “at the proper time” (Galatians 6:9). Too often Christians weary of praying, and give up. This is often justified on the basis that God’s failure to answer means the request is not according to His will. Remember, God can:

    Deliver – whatever we ask in His name;

    Delay – to fit His perfect timing (only He sees the end from the beginning);

Deny – and say ‘No’ because we ask amiss or give a

    Different and better answer.

Jesus urges us to be persistent in prayer (Luke 11:5-8). This does not mean that God does not want to meet our needs and that we need to try to persuade Him. It simply means that only God, who completely understands the whole situation, can know when and how to answer. Only when we have assurance in our hearts from the Lord, should we remove a matter from our prayer list.

Many times Christians lose heart in prayer because they do not recognize when the Lord does answer their prayers. Sometimes this is due to the fact that they did not pray specifically enough and sometimes because they have decided in advance how God must answer. Perhaps they think that only a great miracle can meet their need.

But the Lord may change the circumstances so that the need seems to be supplied “naturally.” Mature believers will recognize that the events of everyday life also come from the Lord. Our daily bread and safety are miracles of God in this troubled world Let us not presume to tell God how to answer, and let us praise Him for His daily care.

RESPONSE: Today I will acknowledge God gives His best to those who leave the choices to Him.

PRAYER: Lord, help me to be patient and persistent…and leave the answers to my prayers in Your hands.

  7. Do Not Give Up — Jun 14, 2016 11:07 am | Glynda Linkous

Do not give up, My children, if answers are long in coming to your prayers. You are not ignored, you are ever before Me, and I consider each prayer carefully.

Your lives, and destinies in Me are precious before Me, and I carefully orchestrate each detail for your benefit, and for the benefit of all those in My Kingdom. Because of this, some answers cannot come quickly. Many souls are at stake with every move in My plans for you.

Remember I love you with an everlasting love and I do know what is best for each of you; what is best for you overall, what is best for you right now in your time. I know what is best for all those connected to your life.

Strive to develop patience and understanding as you wait, that you may wait with Me as each detail is worked out for the best for all concerned. Be not hasty and think I have abandoned you, for I will never leave you, or forsake those who are Mine.

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Isaiah 45:4 For Jacob my servant’s sake, and Israel mine elect, I have even called thee by thy name: I have surnamed thee, though thou hast not known me.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Jeremiah 31:3 The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.

    Colossians 1:10-12
    10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
    11 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;
12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light

Proverbs 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

    TEACH YOUR CHILDREN
These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Deuteronomy 6:6-7

An extraordinary life in Christ does not just depend on teachings, circumstances or comfort. In many countries in the world today there are severe restrictions and obstacles facing parents in instructing their children in the ways of the Lord. In communist countries like China and Vietnam it is officially against the law to share the gospel with anybody under the age of eighteen years, including your own children.

In the Middle East, Christian schools are non-existent and Christian children are forced to attend Muslim schools and receive instruction from the Koran and Muslim teachers. Yet, it seems as if Christian families in restricted areas are more Godly and committed to the Lord than their counterparts in the west, where opportunities abound and Christians live in abundance.

The lessons that we learn from the persecuted church are of far more value than seminars or devotionals can ever be—the lessons of true discipleship and wholesome living. Lessons that are neither theology nor speculation but teachings of life, reality and practice.

Gerhard Hamm was one of the thousands of faithful believers through whom God’s light continued to shine in the Soviet Union during the years when communism reigned there.

He grew up in the Ural Mountains where his parents farmed. But then communism arose and in 1929 the “bandits” came, as Gerhard later often called the Bolsheviks. Because his father was a Christian and of German descent, he was arrested and exiled to Siberia. The farm was confiscated.

Mother Hamm and her twenty children also moved to Siberia. For a few years, the family was together. Then Gerhard’s father was taken away from his family and never came back. None of the family knows where his grave is. All the churches were closed and atheistic propaganda was being disseminated all around

As a young boy Gerhard lost his father, his security, his home and his freedom—all because of the name of Jesus. Hunger and cold were his daily lot, an obvious reason for a young teenager to resent God and His commands. But despite the difficulties, ridicule and persecution, Mother Hamm prayed every day with her children, and they read the Bible together.

When Gerhard Hamm died in 1999 at the age of 76, he left a legacy of faithful children behind. All of his children and their spouses were devoted Christians. His grandchildren have all committed their lives to the Lord. All of Gerhard’s nineteen brothers and sisters and their spouses and children followed the footsteps of Jesus and many are still involved in various ministries reaching all corners of the globe.

RESPONSE: Today I will take seriously the challenge of teaching, training and discipling my children or young people with whom I have close relationship.

PRAYER: Lord, help me to live a life of self-sacrifice so young people will see You and want to follow.

“…we have sinned, committed iniquity, acted wickedly and rebelled, even turning aside from Your commandments and ordinances.” Daniel 9:5

Balance every prophetic word spoken by The Word of God, taking all to Him in prayer. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part…

“When man rejects the goodness of God, choosing instead his own path, Holy Spirit woos and calls gently to return. His voice grows stronger as man continues down his own path. Soon the voice is silent and man is left a shell of what could have been had he chosen to follow My path.

Sadly millions have chosen a path which leads to a bitter end and eternal separation from the God of all goodness, mercy and grace.”

“I have spread out My hands all day long to a rebellious people, Who walk in the way which is not good, following their own thoughts…” Isaiah 65:2
“But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, And your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear.” Isaiah 59:2

    1. I have no other word for what they are doing in Southern CA and in other states in regard to Hydraulic fracturing or fracking…. except, OUTRAGOUS!

In CA it’s being done very close to the San Andréa’s fault line. The guy in this video talks about the fault lines and fracking. We watched a special on the Weather Channel this past winter, what they’re doing is very dangerous.

And they are well aware that it’s dangerous. It’s only a matter of time before they cause a large earthquake….one caused by the fracking, not one that would be a natural occurrence. You can’t inject high pressure water/chemicals down into the earth and expect no consequences. Not to mention doing it in a state that’s prone to earthquakes and within miles of fault lines.

In states (central US) that have never had earthquakes or very few are now having many (hundreds) as high as 3-5.7 magnitude quakes. These people have no insurance like states that are prone to quakes and their homes are not built to withstand even a small quake. There homes are being damaged at best and they have no recourse. That’s only half the problem. There’s also the problem of how it contaminates the water. All this in the name of MONEY! If it’s not money, then its power but most of the time it’s both. There are so many different ways to get our energy other then destroying (hard working peoples) property and our natural resources.

      http://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-sej-oklahoma-quakes-fracking-20160302-story.html

The next link is older but talks of…(copied) Oklahoma City oil and gas billionaire Harold Hamm, who is known as the father of the U.S. fracking boom, became involved in conversations about what was causing the earthquakes. State seismologist Austin Holland was called to a meeting with Hamm and University of Oklahoma president David Boren, who sits on the board of Hamm’s company, Continental Resources.

      http://ecowatch.com/2015/04/23/oklahoma-earthquakes-caused-by-fracking/

(copied) In the article Big Oil Pressured Scientists Over Fracking Wastewater’s Link to Quakes, Bloomberg reported, “Hamm requested that Holland be careful when publicly discussing the possible connection between oil and gas operations and a big jump in the number of earthquakes, which geological researchers were increasingly tying to the underground disposal of oil and gas wastewater, a byproduct of the fracking boom that Continental has helped pioneer.”

I find it especially interesting that the billionaire suggests that the seismologist, Austin Holland be careful about talking publicly!!!

I’m aware there are many who think fracking is okay or enviable for resources. I’d ask those to consider trading places with those who live in and around these areas and have to live with the consequences.

There are better ways…that’s my two cents about that.

Please God be with those who live near these places being affected, protect them, keep Your loving arms around them, show them mercy as they have to deal with the consequences…In Jesus Name I pray, Amen

  14. Daily Devotional – 06/16/2016:

Four Detours on the Path to Wisdom
How does a person go from being the wisest man on the earth to a man buried neck deep in folly? How does a person move from being sensitive toward God to living a life of radical disobedience? The truth is nobody sets out to experience this kind of fall — least of all Solomon. If you had asked him early in his life and kingship, “Solomon, do you think you will stray from the path of wisdom and end up living like a fool?” he would have been shocked that you even asked. Yet that is exactly what happened.

Solomon’s life is a road map that we might call “the way to disaster”! His descent from the heights to the depths is heartbreaking. As we study Scripture, we can identify four distinct detours Solomon took that led him on this downward spiral. By looking closely at these mistakes, we can learn to avoid them and the high price that always comes with folly.

Detour 1: Allowing a Little Wiggle Room

The first step in Solomon’s downward spiral was to leave a little wiggle room in his commitment. It all began with areas of compromise that many people may have thought were not that important. In 1 Kings 3:3 we read: “Solomon showed his love for the Lord by walking according to the statutes of his father David, except that he offered sacrifices and burned incense on the high places” (emphasis added).

When we read the word “except,” we know Solomon is in trouble; we don’t even need to know what comes next. This word is a clear indicator that Solomon has decided to leave some wiggle room in his devotion. He will try to love God and be devoted, except for a few areas. The simple fact that he says “except” is a guarantee that he will be in deep water.

Detour 2: Assuming We Are the Exception to the Rule
At this point in the spiral, we don’t dispute God’s rules or disagree with them. In fact, we agree that they’re fine for most people. But we just think that we’re a little more mature and a little more sophisticated than others. We can handle it. We don’t have to follow God’s rules as closely as everybody else does. The problem with anything less than total obedience is that we’re the ones who get to choose what we will submit to and what “really doesn’t matter.” When this happens, we become our own king, our own god. This becomes a form of idolatry.

Detour 3: Failing to Deal with Predisposed Weaknesses
We all have them. But when we refuse to look at them and resist turning away from them, we are headed for trouble. Solomon was not particularly discriminating when it came to women. He seemed to love them all! Even when God gave clear commands about this, he kept right on marrying women who were forbidden. We must stop and wonder why he struggled so much in this area of his life. When we consider Solomon’s personal history, some clues begin to rise to the surface. Solomon had been exposed to sexual struggles his whole life. Reading through the Old Testament, we discover that David’s family had one of the most dysfunctional households around. Likely, Solomon’s problems stretched all the way to his father’s bedroom. The sins and weaknesses of his parents infected him and impacted him for a lifetime!

    Detour 4: Ignoring Correction
The final step on the downward spiral — and a sure sign of looming disaster — is to ignore or to silence wise and loving correction. Such an individual is in a dangerous place. And when he or she has already followed the first three detours, sin has a way of deafening one’s ears so that hearing God’s voice is difficult. As Solomon grew older, he wandered further and further from God. God continued to call Solomon to a place of repentance, but Solomon continued to do things his own way.

Where might you see yourself heading down the path toward folly? Which of the four detours would you most likely “fall for”?

    1. Excellent teaching James…its so important to realize that once we begin to sin, to shut God out in the little things we open the door or give a free pass to the enemy who will then take over our mind, body and Spirit blocking g out the Holy Spirit. This is where the real trouble begins, where we become brainwdshed by his lies. Truth becomes distorted. Without the Holy Spirit, we can’t hear the truth about anything.

Praying…covering this site in the Blood of Jesus…in His mighty Name, Amen
      Thank you for sharing.

  15. Keep Your Eyes On Me — Jun 16, 2016 09:45 am | Glynda Linkous

My children, I have warned you about the evil in your world. I have warned you of ugliness you will see around you, and the carnage. This will continue to increase as we move closer and closer to the end. Many astounding events are yet to unfold.

Your only safe place is in Me. Those who are not in Me will have no protection at all from the Evil One, who stalks every soul night and day. He desires many souls for his kingdom of darkness and he shall have many, for great is the deception in the earth, and it will grow greater still.

Keep your eyes on Me when all seems lost, when everything around you seems to have gone mad. Keep your eyes on Me when you see no provision for your earthly needs, for I will show you where provision is. Keep your eyes on Me when your life is in danger, for I alone am able to deliver you. I am a mighty God and well able to succor My people. I am well able to defend you against the mightiest armies. I am able to lead you, to make straight paths where no path was before.

You are safe in My care. Keep your eyes on Me. Abide in Me. Walk in devotion to Me. Turn away from wickedness and pursue only Me. You shall have no other gods before Me.

NOTE: I felt such a deep, terrible sadness in my spirit after the Lord spoke this word, for all those souls who will not turn to Him in time. His heart grieves for them as He gives them chance after chance, but, as He said, the deception in this world is great, and sadly, so many will choose the world’s beliefs over belief in Him.

Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

Exodus 20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

    Isaiah 42:15-17
15 I will make waste mountains and hills, and dry up all their herbs; and I will make the rivers islands, and I will dry up the pools.
16 And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.
17 They shall be turned back, they shall be greatly ashamed, that trust in graven images, that say to the molten images, Ye are our gods.

Ezekiel 33:11 Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?

John 15:6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

    Proverbs 1:24-28
    24 Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;
25 But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:
    26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;
27 When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.
28 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:

    Psalm 91
1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
    5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
    9 Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.

  16. A very sobering word from Ali Winters (awatchmanonthewall)

    FRIDAY, JUNE 17, 2016
“You are not prepared oh wicked and perverse world for what will soon come upon you. You have been sheltered, coddled and lied to by false shepherds and teachers whose desire was to increase their kingdom and not Mine. My anointing will fall on those small in the eyes of the world but mighty in Mine for their desire is to love and serve Me.

As anguish comes upon nations, men’ hearts will tremble in fear but My anointed will see My glory, My grace and experience My mercy as I work in their lives to achieve My purposes. My heart must be your heart, My desire your desire, My will your will. No longer will man be allowed to seek self gratification, for vengeance is Mine and I will repay.

Many friends and loved ones see not what you see. Press on, move forward. Move in closer to Me. Do not abandon your calling for worldly pleasures or seek to please man. Many pitfalls, danger ahead. Hearts and minds stayed on Me will be blessed of the LORD. My children, danger approaches. Times of lack, great testing that you be refined, purified for use by your LORD and King. What you lack I will provide, if you will trust Me.”

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11

    FATHERHOOD
For you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children, encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of God, who calls you into his kingdom and glory. 1 Thessalonians 2:11-12

The Apostle Paul is very specific here in defining a fatherly role and gives three special characteristics of a Christian father. We fathers tend to apply them in reverse order but Paul states them as:

    A. Encouraging

Like children, we are often tempted to give up. When that happens, the real need is for someone to come along side who can identify with and encourage them to keep going. A Christian father is one who is always there to give an encouraging word when needed. And the need is often!

    B. Comforting

This reference is to the kind of comfort that helps a child or another person carry a burden of grief or pain. Just by coming alongside in this concerned way, the burden is made lighter and the pain is lessened. We were not created to be alone, especially in grief. The Christian father and disciple maker is also always there for times of comfort giving.

    C. Exhorting

This is the direction and assertiveness characteristic that should be evident in the father/disciple maker relationship. There are times when the father moves from the side to stand squarely in front and confront them with something that they need to face. The dangers in not exercising this responsibility are very great and should compel us to be diligent toward both our children and our brothers and sisters in Christ.

J.J. Andrews is an elderly Lutheran pastor friend in Rangoon, Burma—now Myanmar—with a great father’s heart for ministry. Several years ago his daughter died of viral hepatitis. Two months later his wife passed away from a broken heart. Six months after that one of his sons suddenly died. He was crushed. He said, “I felt like Job, only no one visited me.”

A young Filipino staff member of Open Doors heard about this situation. He made a special trip just to visit Brother J.J. and encourage him. J.J. said, “Thank you for coming in my darkest hour.”

Some months later, I was visiting Brother J.J. in Rangoon. He had his young grand-children laughing and playing around his home. He smiled as he shared unforgettable lessons with me. The words I remember verbatim were, “God rewarded me for my perseverance and healed my broken heart!” The ministry of encouragement is straight from the heart of Father God.

RESPONSE: Today I will commit to being an encourager, comforter and exhorter.

PRAYER: Thank You Lord for Christian fathers who have modelled Your heart with their children.

  18. Looking at the 3rd to the last sentence “Standing Strong Through the Storm,” I’m also thinking “Praise Him in the Storm.” I believe HE LOVES THAT.

  19. Amen. Traveling again and every time is just more in our face. Only awesome thing about traveling with the exception of some powerful things the Lord did in my family……………..God is faithful to show His children everything before we have to see them. The time He has given to prepare us is incredible. I see His love, His mercy and His patience in all things

  20. Daily Devotional (1) — 06/18/2016:

    PROJECT PEARL
“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.” Matthew 13:45-46

One hundred-foot-long tugboat Michael lumbered along at the sleepy speed of three knots. It towed the semi-submersible barge, Gabriella, loaded with the million Chinese Bibles in 232 waterproof wrapped one-ton packages. By 9 p.m. on that historic night of June 18, 1981, Michael and its crew of twenty men weaved through a maze of anchored Chinese navy ships in the darkness near the port city of Shantou, southern China. Thousands of local Christians waited patiently in the darkness on the appointed beach.

The off-loaded floating packages were towed to shore by small rubber boats. Chinese believers came out in the water—some up to their neck. They pulled the blocks up onto the beach and cut them open with shears, handing the 45-pound cardboard boxes of Bibles to one another up the sand to the tree-line.

Two hours later, Michael and Gabriella and the crew left the scene with one million Bibles in the care of Chinese believers. They promised to circulate them across the entire country. In some cases, that process took as much as five years and many Chinese Christians paid dearly for it.

Over the past 30 years, Open Doors has received documented story after story—often from unusual places and situations—of the impact of those Bibles on the fast growing church in China. Project Pearl Bibles have been seen in virtually every province of the country.

A former colleague of mine from Singapore continues to minister in China. In the late 1990s, he met a large house church network of Christians in central China who still had no contact at all with foreigners from outside the country. They testified that it was the receiving of many Project Pearl Bibles that encouraged them and motivated them to share the gospel widely and thus grow to their current significant numbers.

One of those pocket-sized Bibles was received by a young Christian who had been praying for a Bible of his own for three years. After reading it through three times in three weeks, he felt God calling him to become one of the many itinerant evangelists preaching in China’s countryside. After fifteen years of ministry, he pastored a network of house churches that grew to over 400,000 members. His network of churches continues to need more than 20,000 Bibles a month just for new believers.

RESPONSE: I will appreciate the several Bibles I have and commit myself to learning and living from it.

PRAYER: Pray for Christians today in a variety of situations who are still waiting for their first copy of God’s Word.
