Thank You Lord – A Test Of Faith

I Was listening to a radio broadcast the other day and it was titled “Thank The Lord Even When We Don’t Want To”.

The point of that broadcast was that we should always be grateful to the Lord for everything in our lives.  Take the time to thank him, even when going through hardships.  We should always thank the Lord for our salvation and thank him for many things such as:   Shelter, Food, Health, Transportation, Clothing, Communication Technology, Friends & Family (Virtual included), Pets and so much more.

We are all rich in our heavenly father’s eyes, but many of us are struggling to survive here on earth. Thank the Lord even during very very hard times.  Thank the Lord that you do not have to sleep on the street and beg for food.

Remember, the Lord knows our heart.  Don’t come to him with “doublespeak” spewing out of your mouth.  An example would be where a Military Officer is verbally assaulting their subordinate and the subordinate says, “Thank You Sir, Can I Have Another?”.  Don’t blame the Lord for things that are wrong in your life, but instead thank him for everything he provides.

We all need to hold tightly to the Lord now more than ever, as when Judgments unfold we will need all of his strength to carry on until we are taken away to be with him for all eternity.

Psalm 103 Common English Bible (CEB)

Let my whole being bless the Lord!
Let everything inside me bless his holy name!
2 Let my whole being bless the Lord
and never forget all his good deeds:
3 how God forgives all your sins,
heals all your sickness,
4 saves your life from the pit,
crowns you with faithful love and compassion,
5 and satisfies you with plenty of good things
so that your youth is made fresh like an eagle’s.
6 The Lord works righteousness;
does justice for all who are oppressed.
7 God made his ways known to Moses;
made his deeds known to the Israelites.
8 The Lord is compassionate and merciful,
very patient, and full of faithful love.
9 God won’t always play the judge;
he won’t be angry forever.
10 He doesn’t deal with us according to our sin
or repay us according to our wrongdoing,
11 because as high as heaven is above the earth,
that’s how large God’s faithful love is for those who honor him.
12 As far as east is from west—
that’s how far God has removed our sin from us.
13 Like a parent feels compassion for their children—
that’s how the Lord feels compassion for those who honor him.
14 Because God knows how we’re made,
God remembers we’re just dust.
15 The days of a human life are like grass:
they bloom like a wildflower;
16 but when the wind blows through it, it’s gone;
even the ground where it stood doesn’t remember it.
17 But the Lord’s faithful love is from forever ago to forever from now
for those who honor him.
And God’s righteousness reaches to the grandchildren
18 of those who keep his covenant
and remember to keep his commands.
19 The Lord has established his throne in heaven,
and his kingdom rules over all.
20 You divine messengers,
bless the Lord!
You who are mighty in power and keep his word,
who obey everything he says,
bless him!
21 All you heavenly forces,
bless the Lord!
All you who serve him and do his will,
bless him!
22 All God’s creatures,
bless the Lord!
Everywhere, throughout his kingdom,
let my whole being
bless the Lord!

I ask that nobody get into scriptural debates.  Anyone who feels the need to argue or post hateful messages, please pray for guidance from the Holy Spirit.  Anyone not being respectful can expect their responses to go into my virtual trash can. Snarky comments can also expect to find their way into the trash can.

  1. EXCELLENT Post and message . . . I have to diligently regroup and do this daily or I can find myself sinking into pity party land and that just spirals into depression and despair. SO, we do need to say “THANK YOU JESUS” even when it is “OUCH . . THANK YOU JESUS”.

    I have my next post “theme”: Keep your eyes on the prize.
    That goes with your post today.

    Thank you very much for sharing this message, James. That one photo that talked about mamby-pamby land had me laughing 😄

    1. Very welcome Linda. A little humor always brings joy in the midst of sorrow. Looking forward to your next post and may it bring more insight to all of us and also help gather more souls for the Lord.

  2. James – thank you for reminding us !!!! – we love the Lord no matter what.!!!!…. we love the Lord for everything and anything we can think of that brings comfort, safety, or survival to our lives. But we never love what He gives us more than the one who gives them – and may we remember to always ask what we can do for Him …………… amen

  3. A great reminder James…gratitude is necessary even for the air we breath. WE must not take anything for granted or assume we will never lose something we now have.

  4. Here’s a Thanksgiving Prayer to boggle the mind: “Then Jonah prayed unto the Lord his God out of the fish’s belly, and said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the Lord, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and He heard my voice. For you had cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me. Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple. . . when my soul fainted within me I remembered the Lord: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple. . .I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay what I have vowed. Salvation is of the Lord,” Jonah 2.

    Always amazed me. Now THAT’S gratitude. . .from the belly of a big fish!

    : ) Great post, my brother!

  5. Yes, the Scripture says “In EVERYTHING give THANKS” and “with THANKSGIVING” make your requests known to God. Our words are powerful, and words of thanksgiving will line up with God’s WORD so much more than words of complaining. In the Scriptures, complaining was equated with unbelief and an evil report.

    Jesus, at the Last Supper took the bread and the cup and GAVE THANKS, even though He knew that the crucifixion was right around the corner.

    We should do the same……”In EVERYTHING give THANKS.”
