I Never Knew You, Depart From Me

Matthew 7:23

And then will I profess unto them, ‘I never knew you:depart from Me, ye that work iniquity.’

Those are words none of us ever wants to hear from the Lord.  If our names are not written in the book of life, we will not spend eternity with the Lord.

It doesn’t matter how many times we go to church, socials, suppers and other events.  It doesn’t matter if we have a degree in Bible Studies.  It doesn’t matter if we have read that same old Bible since we were very young.  It doesn’t matter that we teach Sunday School.  It doesn’t matter if we preach the word. It doesn’t matter if we can quote scripture. None of these things matters, if we do not have faith.

It is hard for me to understand that even some of our most loving relatives, friends and neighbors may hear the words “I never knew you, Depart from Me”.  We aren’t saved by our works.  We can help everyone we meet, but if we have no faith, it won’t make any difference.

Some of us may have friends that will do anything for us and we love them very much.  These friends may have tried to talk to us about the Lord in the past, but have since moved onto more “worldly” concerns.  They may even go to Church every Sunday, but they still have no faith.  Some of these people may be going to church to get a “Feel Good” message preached to them, instead of the full Gospel Truth.  You may try and talk to these people, but you usually just get a short response like “Thank You” or “I’m glad for you”.  These people may be so wrapped up in themselves right now, that the Lord is simply an after-thought.  We need to pray for everyone, even those that are “professing Christians”.

I have earned nothing and do not share these messages for purpose of being boastful or full of pride.  All of the Thanks and Glory goes to the Lord.

We need to keep strong in our faith, pray for forgiveness of our sins daily, pray for: non-believers, professing Christians and our enemies. We do not have a “Get of Hell Free Card” aka “Once Saved Always Saved”.   We don’t spend eternity with the Lord based on others we follow, nor is it inherited from our parents.  The Lord doesn’t care how many hours you “parked” yourself on a church pew — If you don’t have faith, none of that matters.

So many are caught up into worldly things.  They want to impress their friends, family and neighbors by their possessions.  Hate to tell you — you can’t take your possessions with you when you die!

Wouldn’t it be better to concentrate on our eternal souls?

Matthew 6:19-21

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in Heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
